9/14/24 These injured Yankees are still options for postseason pitching staff. A postseason roster crunch is looming for the Yankees and two injured pitchers are making a late-season push to get back to the big leagues. The Yankees may not need them as they craft their perfect postseason roster, but having more options this time of year is a good problem to have for any contender. Right-handers Lou Trivino and Cody Poteet are both in the final stages of their rehab assignments, still sidelined on the 60-day injured list. Trivino hasn't pitched since the playoffs in 2022, missing all of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

5/04/23 Yankees GM Brian Cashman offers few answers for rash of injuries. Injuries happen to every MLB team over the course of a season, but the Yankees have seemed to make an art form out of it this year. Rather, it has brought to light what has been a pattern of players brought in by general manager Brian Cashman who have been lost to stints on the injured list. After it was announced earlier this week that Lou Trivino would undergo Tommy John surgery, he became the final player from the 2022 trade deadline that Cashman added to finally succumb to injury since joining the Yanks. “The more recent moves have not worked out,” Cashman said during a nearly 30-minute chat with reporters on Wednesday.

4/25/23 Around the Empire: Yankees news. NJ Advance Media | Max Goodman: The bad news on the injury front continues to pile up for the Bombers. Reliever Lou Trivino, on the IL to start the season with an elbow sprain suffered in spring training, experienced a setback that could put his season in jeopardy. Trivino pitched well out of the bullpen after joining the Yankees as part of the Frankie Montas deadline deal, with a 1.66 ERA in 25 appearances, and will likely undergo tests to determine whether he will pitch this year.

4/20/23 This Week in Statcast - Albert Abreu's Ascension. Prior to the midsummer classic, the relief corps put up the second-best WAR mark (4.5) and ERA (2.89) in addition to being tops in FIP (3.05). Already down second-half staples Lou Trivino, Scott Effross, and Jonathan Loáisiga to begin this year, not to mention offseason addition Tommy Kahnle, I wouldn't blame you for anticipating a continuation of the bullpen's downward trend. There are some familiar faces propping those numbers up: Ron Marinaccio has more than held his own after I predicted he would stave off a sophomore slump, Michael King has returned to form despite diminished velocity, and Wandy Peralta is continuing to build on last season's success.

3/27/23 Yankees 2023 Season Preview: Lou Trivino. Surprisingly, Lou Trivino thus far has been the positive part of last deadline's big deal to bring in Frankie Montas. 2022 was a tale of two halves and two teams for Trivino. This was really the story of his first half out West — despite his noisy ERA, he was actually pitching fairly well.

3/19/23 Yankees' Lou Trivino made breakthrough with best pitch before elbow injury. When the Yankees shut right-hander Lou Trivino down earlier this month with a mild ligament sprain in his elbow, the reliever wasn't overly concerned about the extent of his injury or how many games he would miss. More than anything, Trivino was bummed that he wouldn't be able to keep throwing his cutter after making a major breakthrough with what used to be his best pitch. “You know how I know God has a sense of humor?” Trivino asked at his locker at Steinbrenner Field on Saturday. When Trivino was a rookie with the Athletics in 2018, his cutter was dominant.
