7/20/24 | Blue Jays thoughts: Bo Bichette hits the injured list, complicating trade strategy. On Saturday, the Jays put him on the 10-day injured list and called up Addison Barger. Right leg injuries have been a recurring problem for Bichette over the last two years. In 2023, he had knee and quad issues that required a pair of stints on the injured list. Earlier this year, Bichette also spent time on the IL with a calf injury and it popped up again just before the all-star break. Source: https://www.therecord.com/sports/baseball/blue-jay... |
6/19/24 | Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Blue Jays take another haircut against the Red Sox. It took nearly half the season, but the Blue Jays have been swept. Fitting beautifully into the arc of the 2024 season so far, the three-game sweep, capped by a 7-3 loss to the visiting Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night, came against a team the Jays could have passed in the standings. As has far too often been the case, the Jays had their chances early and couldn't come through: two on and nobody out in the first inning, first and second and one out in each of the second and third — zero runs. Meanwhile, the Red Sox opened the scoring in the third when ninth-place hitter Romy González reached on an Addison Barger error (one of four committed by the Jays), stole second and scored on a David Hamilton single. 6/15/24 | "Thank god": Fans react to Blue Jays cutting ties with Vogelbach. The Toronto Blue Jays have finally put an end to what felt like an odd experiment from day one of the season. The Blue Jays took to X yesterday to announce that they had designated Daniel Vogelbach for assignment. The 31-year-old was signed to a minor-league contract by the Jays in February and was able to make the Opening Day roster. In a corresponding move, they called up Addison Barger. 4/24/24 | Blue Jays calling up prospect for potential MLB debut: report. The Toronto Blue Jays seem to be getting ready to give yet another player a chance to shine at the major league level. As per Gate 14 Podcast host Johnny “Johnny Sources” Giunta, 24-year-old prospect Addison Barger has been called up to the Blue Jays, with an official announcement and further reports likely expected shortly. The move seems to correspond to outfielder Kevin Kiermaier's left hip discomfort, as reported by Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith. Kiermaier is currently day-to-day but could be headed to the injured list to make way for Barger. Source: https://dailyhive.com/toronto/blue-jays-calling-up... |
1/18/24 | Better Know Your Blue Jays 40-Man: Addison Barger. It's time to start looking through our 40-man roster. Addison Barger was added to the Jays' 40-man in November of 2022, to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He's a 24-year-old, left-handed hitting infielder (he's also played right field). He was a sixth-round pick in the 2018 draft (he dropped that far because he was committed to the University of Florida). He didn't impress with the bat until 2022, but then he hit .308/.378/.555 with 26 home runs in 124 games, mainly with the Dunedin Blue Jays. Barger was number two on our top 40 Prospect List last year , making a big move from #39 the year before (he might fall a couple of spots this year). 7/18/23 | Buffalo slugs its way past Syracuse, 13-4, on Tuesday Night. The Syracuse Mets fell victim to incredibly hot hitting from the Buffalo Bisons (Triple-A Toronto Blue Jays) on a muggy Tuesday night at NBT Bank Stadium. The Mets lost to the Bisons 13-4, dropping the first game in the week-long, six-game series. Buffalo has now won eight of the first 13 games the two teams have played against one another this season. It took exactly two batters for the Bisons to score their initial run as Addison Barger doubled, and Ernie Clement singled Barger home to make it 1-0 Buffalo in a flash. 3/31/23 | Gregor Chisholm: Blue Jays prospect watch: Ricky Tiedemann, Addison Barger lead middle-of-the-pack minor-league system. After graduating a slew of top prospects to the majors and trading others away to upgrade the big-league roster, a dry spell in the minors was expected. 3/12/23 | Britton's three-run homer seals Blue Jays' 8-3 win over Phillies. Zach Britton's three-run home run in the ninth inning sealed the Toronto Blue Jays' 8-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in spring training action on Sunday. Britton's homer was a part of a four-run inning that also saw Addison Barger reach home base on a fielding error by Phillies second baseman Hao-Yu Lee. George Springer started a three-run third inning with a solo home run, followed by Daulton Varsho bringing Bo Bichette home on a sacrifice fly and Matt Chapman scoring on a Philadelphia fielding error.
