10/01/24 Wild Card Week Day 1: The Shifting of Tides. One of the few games I had any time to watch today was Tigers-Astros. Watched Skubal work, watched the small ball chip away at Valdez. It is...incredible, unlikely, and hysterical, all at the same time, that after essentially skipping to first with no competition yet again, the Astros are being matched by the freaking Detroit Tigers. Today, people like Wenceel Perez, Trey Sweeney, Parker Meadows, Matt Vierling and Jake Rogers were getting stuff done against these guys.

9/24/24 Tigers rookie grinds through 26 pitches to deliver game-changer. Not long ago, it was unclear whether outfielder Wenceel Perez would return to the Detroit Tigers lineup before season's end. With nearly 400 plate appearances logged in a solid rookie campaign, and the Tigers seemingly destined for their eighth straight losing season, there didn't appear to be much urgency for a comeback.

1/19/24 As new crop arrives, a look back at Tigers' international signings over the years. If infielder/outfielder Wenceel Perez makes his Major League debut for the Detroit Tigers this summer, the special day will come about eight years after he initially signed with the organization out of the Dominican Republic. The road from international prospect to big-leaguer is incredibly long. If you're seeking instant gratification, the international market might not be your cup of tea. It will be years before any judgment -- good or bad -- can be made about the Tigers' class of 2024, which was announced this week.

8/20/23 Around the Tigers' farm: Wenceel Perez joins a crowd at Toledo. This has been, well, an unconventional year, this 2023 baseball season, for Tigers farmhand Wenceel Perez. Another issue, though, cropped up: He had a cruel mental hitch that had begun in 2022 and carried into this year — the “yips” on throws to second base. Perez in 22 games at Toledo is hitting .286/.423/.481/.903.
