11/27/24 | Blue Jays rookie invites a fan to Thanksgiving — but there's a catch. While most Toronto Blue Jays fans probably aren't celebrating Thanksgiving this week, one lucky supporter might get the chance to be invited to a family meal hosted by a player on the team. Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido is the protagonist of this story, and it turns out that his invite to Thanksgiving isn't solely out of the goodness of his heart. You see, Loperfido made his MLB debut earlier this season with the Houston Astros prior to his trade to Toronto. Like all other incoming MLB rookies, he received a specialty Topps-branded debut patch on his jersey that was later turned into a one-of-a-kind card. 9/23/24 | Blue Jays force rookies to dress as penguins in hilarious video. The Toronto Blue Jays may not be heading to the postseason this year, but they are still finding ways to have fun. With the team back home in Toronto to prepare for a series against the Boston Red Sox, the Jays decided to put their lineup of rookies through a little playful hazing. As part of the team's annual rookie dress-up day, nine first-year players were forced to dress up as penguins as they got off the plane and into Rogers Centre. Joey Loperfido, Davis Schneider, and Leo Jimenez were among the players who traded their baseball uniforms for penguin costumes. Source: https://dailyhive.com/edmonton/blue-jays-rookies-d... |

Loperfido's solo shot off Shota Imanaga (9-3) in the second was all Toronto needed to end a two-game skid. "To come through for those guys, especially in what ended up a one-run game, it felt good," said Loperfido, who hit his first home run for the club three weeks after being traded from Houston. BALTIMORE—The Blue Jays intend on taking a patient approach with the majority of the players they acquired prior to this year's trade deadline, but one they aren't waiting around for is Joey Loperfido. Loperfido made his Jays debut Wednesday in a 10-4 loss to the Orioles. “I feel like I can impact games in a variety of ways, whether it's on the basepaths, with some power, or getting on base and making things happen,” Loperfido said when asked to describe his game. 6/30/24 | Astros look to continue June success at Blue Jays. The Houston Astros aim to take their June success into July when they visit the Toronto Blue Jays for a four-game series that opens Monday afternoon. The Astros moved to a game above .500 for the first time this season on Sunday when they defeated the host New York Mets 10-5 in 11 innings after waiting out a rain delay of two hours and 47 minutes in the ninth inning. "After a long rain delay, to kind of see that up and down the lineup, huge win to take the series on a Sunday with kind of the gritty way we did," said Joey Loperfido, who had a two-run single in Houston's five-run 11th. 6/29/24 | Joey Loperfido: Up-and-Coming Dynasty Player. When a player is drafted in 2021 and makes it to the majors three years later, that player is normally a very high draft choice. That is not the case for Joey Loperfido of the Houston Astros.
The Astros rookie was drafted in the seventh round after an outstanding four-year career at Duke. A left-handed hitter, Loperfido flew through the Astros system and made his debut with the team on April 30.
He remained with the team for about a month, getting sporadic playing time in the process, before being sent back to Triple-A Sugar Land. Since being recalled on June 21, Loperfido has received consistent playing time, hitting against both righties and lefties as it appears the Astros are finally committed to giving him a chance to play every day - or at least every day until Kyle Tucker returns from the IL.
It is time to examine why I consider Loperfido an up-and-coming dynasty player. Source: https://razzball.com/joey-loperfido-up-and-coming-... |
6/23/24 | Prospect News: Orelvis On Tour With Toronto or Brew On Black. Astros OF Joey Loperfido appears to have finally earned a lineup spot. Man that took forever, didn’t it? Or maybe I’ve just been in the sun too long these past couple days. Warps time a bit.
Athletics 3B Armando Alvarez was called up to take the place of 3B Abraham Toro. He’s 29 years old, so he’s unlikely to become a core piece for Oakland’s build, but I think he’s got at least a chance to stick around in a Joey Meneses kind of way. His past three seasons have netted positive wRC+ scores of 117 in 2022, 125 in 2023, and 132 in 2024, all in Triple-A as he stalled out waiting for a major league opportunity with the Yankees, Giants and Athletics. Unlike Meneses and a lot of these late-stage DH types, Alvarez provides solid defense at the hot corner. Over his last 20 games, he’s slashing .388/.456/.663 with five home runs and one stolen base. Loperfido becomes eligible for a recall Friday after spending ten days in Triple-A, after being optioned. The left-handed outfielder has hit .333 with a home run in 39 at bats for the Astros this season. Loperfido missed three games within the past week after jamming his hand during a slide last Friday.
