LSU baseball commit Konnor Griffin was taken by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft Sunday night. The Jackson Prep (Flowood, Mississippi) star was the highest-rated high school prospect in the nation in this year's draft and per the MLB Network, was the overall ninth-best player, and he came off the board No. 9 overall. Griffin committed to play for Jay Johnson and the Tigers in December of 2022 but LSU coaches knew that the chances of getting Griffin on campus after he graduated high school were unlikely.
