9/25/24 Clase hits 1st career HR as Blue Jays beat Red Sox 6-1, eliminating Boston from wild-card race. Sign up for What'sUpNewp's Daily Digest; we'll keep you informed and connected By IAN HARRISON Associated Press TORONTO (AP) — Jonatan Clase hit his first career home run, Kevin Gausman pitched six innings to win his final start of the season and the Toronto Blue Jays beat Boston 6-1 on Wednesday night, eliminating the Red Sox from postseason contention. The Red Sox, who had won four in a row, needed to win their final four games and get help from opponents in the American League wild-card race. Clase went 3 for 3 with a walk, scored twice and drove in two. He extended Toronto's lead with a homer off Josh Winckowski in the seventh inning. 9/02/24 The Blue Jays have shiny new toys after the trade deadline. But don't overlook these two prospects. When the Blue Jays turned the page on their attempt for a third straight trip to the post-season at the July 30 trade deadline, they added 13 prospects to an organization that, to this point, has failed miserably at fulfilling club president Mark Shapiro's early promise of “wave after wave” of talent coming through to bolster the big-league club. Outfielder Jonatan Clase, who last year became the first minor-leaguer since at least 1961 to hit 20 home runs and steal more than 70 bases in the same season, and pitcher Jake Bloss, with a 2.33 ERA over 17 starts at three levels of the minors this year, will be called up soon. Not to be lost among the shiny new toys, though, are two young players who have spent the last couple of years working their way up through the system and could each wind up playing a big role in any future  success: shortstop Josh Kasevich, the Jays' second-round pick in 2022 out of the University of Oregon, and outfielder Alan Roden, selected one round later from Creighton University (where the teams are called Bluejays).

8/31/24 Trade deadline pickup Jonatan Clase is up to speed on what the Blue Jays expect — whenever the call arrives. The most intriguing of the young prospects acquired by the Blue Jays is still working things out in Buffalo, but probably not for long. Last year, Clase became the first player to hit at least 20 home runs and steal at least 70 bases in a single minor-league season since at least 1961, when stats gathering became reliable. “I always had to work very hard on being an athlete,” Clase told the Star through interpreter Raul Pimentel in the Buffalo Bisons dugout before a recent game.
