Athletics infielder has been placed on the 10-day injured list following surgery to address a ruptured testicle sustained in Monday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. The injury occurred in the top of the fifth inning when Kuroda-Grauer fouled a pitch off himself. He remained on the ground for several minutes before staying in the game, continuing his at-bat and singling the very next pitch to right-center field. JKG was able to push a hit through after this unfortunate foul ball ?? — Athletics on NBCS (@NBCSAthletics) In addition to Kuroda-Grauer, the Athletics placed reliever Mark Leiter on the 15-day injured list retroactive to July 19 with a right hip impingement. To replace Kuroda-Grauer and Leiter on the active roster, right-handed pitcher Hayden Juenger and infielder Max Muncy were recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas. The 23-year-old Kuroda-Grauer made his MLB debut on June 29 and became a regular in the Athletics lineup. In his first 16 big-league games, he is slashing .417/.435/.583 with 25 hits, seven doubles, one home run and four RBI. That one homer came earlier in Monday’s game, meaning the injury overshadowed what should have been one of the most special days of Kuroda-Grauer’s baseball career. Former Giants and Seattle Mariners outfielder in similar fashion in 2019, and he initially was expected to miss at least a month before subsequent surgeries prolonged his injury absence.
