49ers free agent idea lands $100 million WR. This offseason, the San Francisco 49ers made a major trade, sending away their veteran receiver, Deebo Samuel, to the Washington Commanders. Exactly one week after it was announced that cornerback Shaquill Griffin would be reuniting with the Seattle Seahawks, the team has made it official. To make room on the 90-man roster, the Seahawks waived safety-turned-cornerback JT Woods, who signed a reserve/future contract with Seattle in January. Griffin, however, provides more veteran experience that the Seahawks need.

Why Dayo Odeyingbo's Chicago Bears debut looks a little less difficult. Edge rusher Dayo Odeyingbo could have anticipated a very difficult debut at Soldier Field come Monday night, Sept. 8. After his rookie year of 2021, Darrisaw graded out as the second-, eighth- and 11th-best tackle in the NFL. It looked like a devastating injury for the Vikings at the time but they were able to trade for Jacksonville's Cam Robinson as a replacement. The problem for Minnesota is Robinson signed as a free agent with the Houston Texans.

In return, the Miami Dolphins received safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, and the two teams swapped late-round picks. Making Smith even happier was the fact that the Steelers gave him a one-year, $12 million extension, which no doubt satisfies him after he couldn't get a raise from Miami.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers already had a strong rookie season in 2023, but in 2024, he emerged as the top wideout that the team has been desperately missing for years. Flowers, the No. 22 overall pick in 2023 out of Boston College, caught 74 passes for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns last season. Not only did he become the Ravens' first 1,000-yard receiver since 2021, but he became their first receiver to ever make the Pro Bowl (not counting return specialists). Arguably Flowers' greatest strength is that Lamar Jackson can depend on him in almost any situation.

This Position Group Named Giants' Biggest Question Mark Ahead of Training Camp. When an NFL franchise's quarterback situation has been in such dire straits for as long as the New York Giants' room has, it's understandable for those on the outside to doubt that anything will be different with the position as the 2025 season is right around the corner. For the first time in a long while, the Giants arsenal of gunslingers appears to be in the best shape it's been since the team saw their two-time Super Bowl MVP and legendary arm Eli Manning hang up the cleats for retirement at the end of the 2019 campaign. Through six mostly grueling seasons, the Giants tried to make it work with Daniel Jones as the heir apparent to the helm, but nagging injuries and a habit of poor decision-making in the pocket would mar his tenure in the Big Apple. The franchise would need to take a drastic turn to get back on the right track, which led to several significant moves at the quarterback position.

SI's justified 'Super Bowl or Bust' label for Bills and MVP quarterback Josh Allen. It's a great expectation, but the Buffalo Bills should be able to handle it, and if they want to be remembered by history, they need to finally deliver. The Bills have not been to the Super Bowl since the 1993 season, which coincided with President Bill Clinton's first term in office. After the "Music City Miracle" officially ended the 90s Bills era, the franchise suffered through a 17-year postseason drought until head coach Sean McDermott arrived in 2017 followed by quarterback Josh Allen in 2018. With Buffalo having won five consecutive AFC East titles beginning in 2020, and the reigning NFL MVP at the controls, a Super Bowl appearance feels both feasible and long overdue.

As July begins, Chism is reciprocating Bumpus' compliments by providing a ringing endorsement for the training program which may help him prove his case beyond a reasonable doubt. DJ Moore maintains All-NFC North status even after an off year. With the possible exception of Caleb Williams, no one on the Bears offense welcomes the arrival of Chicago Bears coach Ben Johnson more than DJ Moore. In fact, Johnson probably appreciates it more than Williams because the second-year quarterback doesn't know what he doesn't know, as they say. Moore has seen what he can be as a receiver with proper targeting and play design, and now can realize this role again in 2025 after averaging a career-low 9.9 yards per reception in a struggling offense. Moore made it onto the On SI All-NFC North team as third receiver by a vote of writers covering the division's teams.

Tentative deal reached for Bengals' Paycor Stadium. The Cincinnati Bengals and local officials have reached a tentative deal to make $470 million in renovations to Paycor Stadium and keep the team there through at least 2036. Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Byron Murphy II may not have had the rookie season he hoped for, but that doesn't mean it's time to write him off just yet. Murphy, the No. 16 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Texas, didn't exactly light up the stat sheet as a rookie. In 14 games, he accounted for 36 total tackles, two tackles for loss and only half a sack. The Chicago Bears lack a running back ranked in the top five within the NFC North, according to a vote of On SI writers from the division. Because Ben Johnson plans to base his offense off of running and play-action passing, it's not exactly a situation made for success. Sure, the Packers, Vikings and Lions might have one or even two backs who rate higher individually, but the Bears' backfield plan under Johnson for this season looks like a true group effort rather than one or two backs.

The Bears got their man in the one-round mock draft ESPN posted from draft analyst Matt Miller, as they took Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love 18th overall. Raheem Mostert clearly feels some resentment toward the Miami Dolphins, which is understandable considering they released him this offseason a year removed from a Pro Bowl season.
