With veteran free agent additions, Colts' secondary has high expectations for 2025. Lou Anarumo tells it how it is. With 36 years of coaching experience under his belt, the defensive coordinator knows what makes a good team – and a good player. Referred to as a "mad scientist" in his time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Anarumo's defenses have been characterized by versatile players who can take on multiple roles, allowing for a variety of schemes and looks. When Anarumo was hired as the Colts' new defensive coordinator in January, he inherited a relatively young secondary – with the exception of 29-year-old cornerback Kenny Moore II – as the majority of the core group was 25 years or younger.

The Biggest Question Facing the Jaguars Defense. The Jacksonville Jaguars have made significant changes to their coaching staff and added a number of free agents this offseason, primarily on the offensive side of the ball. The Pro Football Network analyzed the most significant questions facing every defense this offseason. The biggest question the Jaguars' defense faces this summer is which unit to prioritize, as their pass rush and secondary need significant help to improve this offseason. The Jacksonville Jaguars certainly qualified for that harsh assessment in 2024, placing 31st in PFSN's defense rankings ahead of only the Carolina Panthers.

Has Chicago Bears coach Ben Johnson found another Jahmyr Gibbs?. It's obvious why SMU running back Brashard Smith might appeal to Bears coach Ben Johnson. Smith ran a 4.39-second time for the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, a few ticks slower than Jahmyr Gibbs did before coming to the Detroit Lions when Johnson was their offensive coordinator. The Bears have slated Smith for one of their 30 visits to Halas Hall, he told reporters at the SMU pro day.

3 Big Takeaways From Broncos' 2025 Offseason Moves & Impact on Bo Nix. The Denver Broncos' 2025 offseason maneuvers have been mostly lauded across the NFL. The team's key free-agent signings not only filled roster holes, but the Broncos targeted the best players available at their respective positions, and the team didn't have to break the bank. On top of that, the Broncos made smart re-signings and even restructured outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper's contract, freeing up $3.2 million in salary-cap space. The Broncos' signings told us a lot about the team's 2025 ambitions, and the deals they didn't make also telegraph quite a lot relative to their NFL draft plans.

Stat of the Jay: Uncovering the Bengals' Unique Historical Dominance of Franchise That Just Won the Super Bowl. CINCINNATI – As is the case with most teams, the Cincinnati Bengals – and their fans – should be looking at the Philadelphia Eagles and their scheme, roster building and cap management as a model for winning a Super Bowl. The Eagles were the only team to beat the Bengals by more than seven points last season. That 37-17 triumph at Paycor Stadium was notable for a couple of reasons. First, it marked the first time Philadelphia had ever beaten the Bengals in six visits to Cincinnati. But it also marked another first – and it's staggering. Let's back up to the genesis of today's Stat of the Jay. After looking at NCAA Tournament betting lines all weekend, it got me wondering which teams the Bengals

Cincinnati has signed one projected starting-caliber exterior free agent: T.J. Slaton. "The Bengals deserve a ton of credit for re-signing wide receivers Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase, but that just kept their elite offense intact and did nothing for their poor defense," Manzano wrote.

Ex-NFL GM goes against grain, predicts Bills draft 10-TD weapon for Josh Allen. The Buffalo Bills made it to the AFC championship last season powered by an offense that scored 30.9 points per game, good for second-best in the NFL. By contrast, the Bills' defense ranked 17th in the league in total defense and gave up 32 points to the Kansas City Chiefs in that AFC championship game — the most points Kansas City had scored all season. Mock drafts are plentiful as we approach the real NFL Draft in late April. While the vast majority of them call for the Bills to shore up their defense with their early round picks, ESPN's Mike Tannenbaum, former GM of the New York Jets, makes a bold call in his recent mock draft by suggesting that Buffalo select Ohio State WR, Emeka Egbuka.

Bills re-signing star cornerback should remain top priority. The Buffalo Bills are in need of securing their cornerstone pieces for the long term. "The Buffalo Bills front office can't be happy with the Houston Texans right now," Ballentine writes.
