After trading George Pickens, the Pittsburgh Steelers spent a good amount of time attempting to find more pass-catching help. 'Rooting' for RB James Cook to get 'lucrative new deal he's earned' from Bills. The contract dispute between running back James Cook and the Buffalo Bills has been omnipresent this offseason. One NFL Media staff member is rooting for the Miami, Florida native to earn the contract extension he's been seeking. Dan Parr, NFL Media Original Content Editor of Draft Strategy, shared an article about one player from each AFC team to root for during the 2025 season. Considering the talent that Cook is in the backfield, in addition to his contract situation, Parr is rooting for the former Georgia Bulldog to thrive this season and buck the trend of not paying RBs a second contract.

Former NFL GM Thinks Justin Fields Is In Better Situation To Win Than Aaron Rodgers, Calls Jets ‘Detroit Lions East’. Justin Fields didn’t have the year with the Pittsburgh Steelers that some people might’ve thought he would. Buffalo Bills' Joey Bosa Receives Brutal Take Entering 2025 Season. Former Ohio State star Joey Bosa was named the biggest bust candidate for the Buffalo Bills ahead of the 2025 season. "Even if the Buffalo Bills get respectable production out of pass-rusher Joey Bosa, the five-time Pro Bowler could be viewed as a bust," Knox wrote. Bosa had solid numbers with the Los Angeles Chargers last season (5 sacks, 19 QB pressures), but he's still an aging defender who has appeared in only 28 games over the past three years. Bosa's injury history presents a risk that he could be a bust of a signing for the Bills.

Ja'Lynn Polk Issues Strong 6-Word Message Ahead Of 2025 Campaign. Not much went right for the New England Patriots in 2024. While they appear to have found their quarterback of the future, Drake Maye, with the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, their second pick from that draft class, wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk, struggled from the jump during his rookie season. With the Patriots' wide receiver room needing a boost, the front office selected Polk with the No. 37 overall pick in hopes he could emerge as a contributor right out of the gate.

Pro Bowl safety still searching for a team as Commanders fit key priority. Whether it be through trades, signings, or the NFL Draft, every step of the way, we're constantly reminding ourselves of what a Commanders player looks like, to help narrow down the pool of candidates. For one multi-time Pro Bowl safety still without a team, Washington clearly meets his top criteria. Gus Bradley's Jaguars Tenure Earns Unwelcome Ranking. The Jacksonville Jaguars have had some bad luck with the head coach role this century. The Jaguars are one of a few teams to have multiple head coaches listed on a recent ranking of poor hires; one is obvious in Urban Meyer, who only lasted 13 games before the NFL chewed him up and spit him out onto a Fox Sports Desk. The other one is not nearly as bad or embarrassing to the franchise, city and sport like Meyer was, but he did have some trouble as the franchise's leader. In a recent ranking from CBS Sports on the worst head coaches of the century, former Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley found himself at No. 14.

As Mougey crafted the Jets' defense, most of his moves aligned with this approach, but one signing stood out.

Colts Applauded for Strong Offseason Moves. Things needed to change for the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. The ineffectiveness of the quarterback position continued to be a bane on the offense, and the defense had become stagnant and uninspired. It led to the Colts missing out on the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season. General manager Chris Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen survived the disappointing performance, but clearly, Ballard knew they needed to proceed differently heading into the offseason.

Former Chargers star already named trade candidate with new team. The Los Angeles Chargers had no qualms about allowing running back J.K. The Chargers completely revamped their backfield, inking Najee Harris to a one-year contract while bringing in rookies Omarion Hampton and Raheim Sanders. Dobbins is already ancient history in the eyes of Los Angeles fans, and they will certainly not be rooting for him so long as he is in a Broncos uniform.

2 sneaky Jacksonville Jaguars trade candidates entering 2025 training camp. The Jacksonville Jaguars entered the 2025 offseason with a measured approach. Notably, they lost standout tight end Evan Engram. New general manager James Gladstone made a bold statement by trading up to the No. 2 overall pick to select Travis Hunter. This aggressive move cost the Jaguars a second-round pick and a 2026 first-rounder.

Justin Herbert (QB - LAC)

Bears-Chargers trade proposal sees $50 million difference-maker change addresses. The Los Angeles Chargers have made additions to their group of pass-catchers this offseason, but the team could still use another reliable target for quarterback Justin Herbert. The free-agent signing of Mike Williams reunites the Chargers with their old friend, but we don't have much hope for the 30-year-old being able to make the kind of impact Los Angeles needs after a lackluster showing in 2024. Quentin Johnston returns for his third season in the NFL, but if the first two campaigns of his career are any indication, it'll be tough to rely on him for a major role. Joining those two and the team's No. 1, Ladd McConkey, is Tre Harris, who was taken in the second round of the 2025 NFL draft.

Bo Nix (QB - DEN)

Broncos Cashing In on Bo Nix's Rookie Deal in 2025. Of course, Bo Nix is on the second year of his 2024 draft pick contract, a deal that keeps him on an inexpensive salary, particularly when compared to veteran quarterbacks. The Broncos have a couple other QBs on the roster, both on veteran contracts, though one who has more experience in the NFL, and more familiarity with Sean Payton's schemes, is getting much more than the other. Let's examine the Broncos' salary-cap and cash commitments to the quarterbacks and what it all means. The advantage of a cost-controlled contract for a recently drafted quarterback are evident, as Nix is being paid considerably less money than the other starting quarterbacks in the AFC West.

ESPN Claims Houston Texans RB Nick Chubb Is No Longer a Top Back in the NFL. ESPN says Nick Chubb is no longer a top 10 running back in the NFL. After spending his entire career up to this point with the Cleveland Browns, running back Nick Chubb added another team to his list as the Houston Texans signed him in free agency. The former Georgia running back has battled several injuries over the last couple of seasons, but prior to that, he was considered one of the best running backs in the league. The sports network released their top 10 running backs ahead of this season and Chubb was no longer on the list after ranking third last preseason.

How Will the Chiefs Play the Broncos in 2025?. The Denver Broncos are the latest AFC West rival the Kansas City Chiefs will have to face in their 2025 schedule, with their first matchup taking place in Week 11 in Denver. This is after the Chiefs' bye week, so the team should be rested and prepared to take on this team, even if they're on the road. This game takes place after the Chiefs visit the Buffalo Bills in week nine, and overall, their schedule before the bye week is a gauntlet of tough teams after tough teams. While unlikely, it's possible that the Chiefs go into this game with a losing record, which puts even more stress on them to come out and win on the road.

Drake Maye (QB - NE)

7/10/25 6:00 AM -
Analyst Gets Honest on Patriots' QB's Decision-Making. New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye definitely showed a lot of positive signs during his rookie campaign, but one area in which he raised some questions was in his decision-making. Maye threw 2,276 yards and 15 touchdowns while completing 66.6 percent of his passes in 13 appearances and 12 starts, but he also threw 10 interceptions and fumbled nine times. As a result, many have pointed to Maye's mistakes as a rather glaring concern heading into 2025, but Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports doesn't seem to think it's that big of a deal. "If you read the caption above and think 'this guy doesn't take care of the ball and isn't accurate -- he must be bad,' you're mistaken," Pereles wrote.

NFL insider links Chargers to former All-Pro to help Justin Herbert. The Los Angeles Chargers haven't exactly done a ton to help Justin Herbert this offseason, at least in terms of bringing in established veterans. While the wide receiver position has long been a concern for the Chargers, they also have an under-the-radar issue along the interior of their offensive line. Los Angeles is currently prepared to head into 2025 with Bradley Bozeman starting at left guard, which is not exactly enthralling for Bolts fans. Daniel Popper of The Athletic wonders if the Chargers could pursue former All-Pro guard Brandon Scherff, who is still somehow remaining on the free-agent market.

With questionable Dolphins secondary, can better pass rush make up for the back end?. With the 2025 NFL season fast approaching, the South Florida Sun Sentinel takes a look at 10 storylines to watch for in a 10-part series ahead of the Miami Dolphins' first day of training camp, which is set for July 22. When it comes to defending the pass in football, the coverage in the secondary is always married to the pressure up front. The Miami Dolphins, as veterans get set to report to training camp ahead of the 2025 season, probably find themselves in a spot where the pass rush looks strong and secondary could be questionable. It was evident it could be that way once it was revealed the Dolphins had to trade elite but aging and disgruntled cornerback Jalen Ramsey in April.
