Tyler Beede became the first Guardians pitcher to go five innings this spring, tossing five shutout frames against the Royals on Friday as Cleveland picked up a 6-1 Cactus League win against Kansas City in Surprise, Arizona. The game was delayed more than an hour by rain, but that did not seem to bother Beede, who pitched professionally in Japan with the Yomiuri Giants last season. There has never been a high school left-hander from Massachusetts taken in the first round of the Draft and the last time a prep pitcher of any kind from the Bay State went in the opening round was back in 2011, when the Blue Jays took Tyler Beede, who instead headed to Vanderbilt. White has at times been tough to scout as he's been picky about which events to attend, but he did show what the fuss has been about both in PDP League and East Coast Pro Showcase action this past summer before taking a nice step forward this spring. 8/10/21	Minor League round up, Aug. 9. It was another unfortunate start for RHP Tyler Beede, who pitched just 2.2 innings and allowed 2 hits, 6 walks, and 5 earned runs, with only 1 strikeout. While some command issues are still to be expected this close to Tommy John surgery, Beede has now allowed 50 hits and 45 walks in 48.2 innings, with just 50 strikeouts. Some serious hiccups are expected when a pitcher returns from Tommy John, but Beede is up to a 6.07 ERA, with 49 strikeouts to a whopping 39 walks in 46 innings since starting his rehab.
