| 8/14/23 | EG's Nunez signs with MLB Pirates. The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to terms on a minor league deal with catcher Dom Nunez, per their transaction log at MLB.com. The former Elk Grove High School player will be assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis. Nunez, 28, was released by the Cubs over the weekend but quickly found a new home with the Pirates organization. The former Rockies backstop hit .216/.367/.366 in 147 plate appearances with the Cubs' top affiliate in Des Moines, drawing a walk in a whopping 17.4% of his plate appearances but also striking out at an untenable 27.5% clip.
