7/02/25 | Patriots Rookie Endorses Training with Former Coach. Last month, former NFL receiver Michael Bumpus — high school coach of New England Patriots' receiver Efton Chism III — declared the team would be “freaking silly” if they failed to find a spot for the undrafted rookie on their initial 53-man roster. As July begins, Chism is reciprocating Bumpus' compliments by providing a ringing endorsement for the training program which may help him prove his case beyond a reasonable doubt. Bumpus, the CEO of Monroe, Washington's Elite Training Academy, coached Chism to a successful career at Monroe High School in which he amassed 166 catches for 2,581 yards with 39 total touchdowns. 6/19/25 | Patriots 'Would Be Silly' Not To Keep Efton Chism. All eyes have been on New England Patriots receiver Efton Chism throughout OTAs and mandatory minicamp, with the undrafted free agent already making a strong impression. Many consider him a favorite to earn a spot on the 53-man roster, and Chism's high school coach sent the Patriots a strong message about what he can bring to the team. “The Patriots would be freaking silly not to put this kid on the 53-man (roster),” Chism's high school coach Michael Bumpus told WEEI's Meghan Ottolini. Quarterback Drake Maye has also noticed Chism's efforts, joking that it feels like he's caught “50 passes” during the spring and early summer. 6/18/25 | Why interview with Seattle Seahawks' Cooper Kupp went viral. An interview my co-host Michael Bumpus and I had last week with Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp ended up going viral, which is unfortunate because my hair looks awful. More importantly, though, I think it's fun to look at why exactly Kupp's answer about how NFL defenses have evolved resonated with thousands of people. There are new ideas that blossom from decades-old roots and in turn shape the league; a Shanahan-Kubiak system borne of a variation of the West Coast offense, or Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay's modernized and ever-evolving versions (Benjamin Solak has a great write-up on that one). 8/26/24 | Bump: 3 Seattle Seahawks dark horses to make 53-man roster. All eyes in Seattle are on the Seahawks' roster, as the Hawks need to cut it down to 53 players by 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon as the NFL readies for the regular season. Naturally, Seattle Sports' Bump and Stacy set their sets on the roster bubble during Monday's edition of their daily Four-Down Territory segment. Stacy Rost asked her co-host, former Seahawks wide receiver and current analyst Michael Bumpus, for some dark horse candidates to make the cut. Of course the first name that Bumpus said was Eskridge, who Bumpus notably championed as a potential Seahawks draft pick out of Western Michigan before the Hawks did just that in 2021. 3/30/24 | Who needs to be a breakout player for the Seahawks in 2024?. During Friday's Bump and Stacy on Seattle Sports, Stacy Rost asked her co-host Michael Bumpus, a former NFL receiver, a simple but difficult question about the Seattle Seahawks. “I look at this defense and I go Derick Hall has to be a dude this year.” Hall was one of two second-round picks the Seahawks made in 2023. 5/15/23 | Bump: One Seattle Seahawks coach stood out at rookie minicamp. You would think that a player jumped out the most to Michael Bumpus at the Seattle Seahawks' rookie minicamp over the weekend, but there was more on his mind come Monday's edition of Seattle Sports' Bump and Stacy. While Bump, a former Seahawks wide receiver and current Pac-12 Network analyst, did take notice of several players, it was a member of the coaching staff who really caught his attention. “Man, I was impressed with Coach Dickerson,” Bumpus said, referring to Seahawks offensive line coach Andy Dickerson. 3/23/23 | Bumpus: How Seahawks' Julian Love addition can help Coby Bryant. The Seahawks made a notable addition to their secondary last week, signing 25-year-old safety Julian Love to a reported two-year, $12 million deal. Love was a jack-of-all-trades defender for the New York Giants last year, playing deep safety, nickel corner and in the defensive box close to the line of scrimmage. When former NFL receiver Michael Bumpus first heard the news of Love's signing, he thought it'd have a big impact on Jamal Adams, Seattle's oft-injured strong safety who does many of the same things as Love on the football field. Former NFL receiver Michael Bumpus said that the Seahawks’ defensive front has been getting a lot of love the last two weeks, which is understandable. They’ve been causing havoc, they’ve been getting after the quarterback, they’ve been stopping the run,” he said during Friday’s Bump and Stacy on Seattle Sports 710 AM. But the Seahawks’ secondary has also impressed Bumpus a lot. Source: https://sports.mynorthwest.com/1684530/bumpus-what... |

10/22/22 | Bumpus: Why Diggs is so important for Seahawks vs Herbert, Chargers. Given Herbert’s ability and the style in which he and Los Angeles play offensively, former NFL receiver Michael Bumpus thinks Pro Bowl free safety Quandre Diggs needs to have his best game of the year when the Seahawks and Chargers face off. He has to do this because Justin Herbert loves to attack the deep middle of the football field,” Bumpus said during Wednesday’s Bump and Stacy on Seattle Sports 710 AM. Justin Herbert has the most pass attempts per game. Source: https://sports.mynorthwest.com/1681597/bumpus-why-... |
9/17/22 | Bumpus: The adjustment Seahawks DC Clint Hurtt must make vs 49ers. Former NFL receiver Michael Bumpus explained during Friday’s Bump and Stacy on Seattle Sports 710 AM. Here’s the thing – with the Denver Broncos, that 3-4 (defense) was perfect going into the game because you felt like Russell’s gonna throw the ball, you’ve got more guys on a second level, you didn’t think they’re going to run that ball a lot,” he said. When you play (against) this 3-4, you should be able to run the ball effectively against the 3-4. Source: https://sports.mynorthwest.com/1665721/bumpus-the-... |
