6/16/22 Washington Nationals news & notes: Davey Martinez on Aníbal Sánchez; Josh Rogers; Alcides Escobar; Josiah Gray + more. He’s going to Florida,” Martinez said. And he’s going to go there and throw some live BPs, maybe pitch in a game or two, and then if everything goes well he’ll go on a rehab assignment and get him going. Josh Rogers is going to follow and do the same thing.

4/22/22 Washington Nationals' Josh Rogers gives up 3 HRs in 4-3 loss to Arizona Diamondbacks.... I thought he gave us what he had there, he had a little bit of ankle issue, so we thought that was good enough. He was opening up earlier in the game,” Martinez added, “... he started opening up, but he finally gathered himself and got himself together and started pitching better.

4/17/22 Josh Rogers not at his best in Nationals' 6-4 loss to Pirates in PNC. That’s not who he is, and I talked to him,” Davey Martinez said when asked if Rogers was down after not making the Nationals’ rotation at the end of Spring Training. Of course you’re going to be down because you wanted to make the team, but I said, ‘Hey, like I said, you’re going to be up here, be patient, we’re going to need you, and you’ll be the first one we call if we need a starter.

4/16/22 MLB Odds: Nationals Vs. Pirates Prediction, Odds And Pick. The Nationals will turn to lefty Josh Rogers, who translated his initial 2022 start into a productive one with 5.1 innings pitched in only giving up one earned run on a pair of base knocks. After getting the best of Washington on Thursday 9-4, the Pirates will look to at least split the series with a triumphant win at PNC Park. Right-handed pitcher Bryse Wilson is seeking a bounce-back performance after not an ideal outing where the 24-year-old gave up three runs in four innings pitched.

4/12/22 Washington Nationals' Josh Rogers rocks way to another solid outing in 11-2 win in Atlanta.... Josh Rogers was optioned to Triple-A at the end of Spring Training, as Washington made their final roster cuts before Opening Day, with Nats’ manager Davey Martinez explaining the decision to reporters as one made with the organization’s starting depth in mind. We want to make sure that if something does happen to one of our starters, that we have viable options. He’s definitely one of them, if not the first one,” Martinez said, as quoted by MLB.com’s Jessica Camerato.

4/02/22 Washington Nationals' Josh Rogers fighting for rotation spot in D.C.. Put in a lot of work this offseason to really come in prepared and ready to roll, and felt really good with all my pitches in the strike zone, and trying to get ahead, obviously need to do a little bit better job than that. But all in all,” he added, “I felt like it was pretty good. I gave up the solo homer in the second, but probably a bad sequence there, but it happens, but I felt great all in all, I think it was pretty good.

3/18/22 Washington Nationals' Josh Rogers makes 2022 debut in Grapefruit League opener.... So I just started this year — I changed a little bit in my delivery, I anchor my foot before so I’m not like square, and just that like swaying motion back and forth, I don’t know, I’m just kind of feeling myself a little bit I guess, and it’s been working out so I’m going to keep doing it. Rogers did keep doing it over the final month of the season, as he put up a 3.28 ERA, a 5.83 FIP, 14 walks, and 22 Ks in six starts and 35 2/3 innings pitched, over which he held hitters to a . line against.

12/22/21 Washington Nationals' 2022 Rotation: Josh Rogers rocks way into Nats' starting mix…. If you’d have told me I’d make six starts in the big leagues to start this year, I would have told you you’re crazy,” Rogers continued. Coming off my second Tommy John surgery — so after getting released and re-signed, it’s been a crazy year for me, but me personally, I’m proud of myself for how far I’ve come and I made every single start and appearance this year, I’ve felt healthy, and I put myself in a position to do so.

11/08/21 Washington Nationals' Josh Rogers made most of opportunity in D.C. in 2021. He’s done well,” Nats’ skipper Davey Martinez said when asked to assess Rogers’ time with the team after his final start of the 2021 campaign on October 1st. I like his tempo, I like the way he works, and he’s going to go out there and give you everything he’s got, and he’s not afraid of throwing the ball over the plate, which is kind of nice. Martinez said he also liked some adjustments that Rogers made after a rough outing in his next-to-last outing of the season.

9/28/21 Washington Nationals' Josh Rogers had 300-strong family & friends in Cincinnati. I got released by the Orioles — so it’s like, somebody took a chance on me, so super-pumped and just not taking anything for granted. Just one outing at a time, really, I know it’s cliché, and everybody says, ‘One outing at a time, one pitch at a time,’ but that’s really how it has to be. The mental approach for me has really been that.
