Ronald Acuña Jr. caught the New York Yankees off-guard with a spectacular throw to end the third inning on Friday night. The Atlanta Braves’ All-Star right fielder threw out Jorbit Vivas at third base when Vivas was trying to tag up on a deep fly to corner in right. Acuña caught the ball just in front of the warning track with his back to the infield. He spun and fired and the throw reached third base in the air just in time for third baseman Nacho Alvarez to tag a slowing Vivas, who ignored third-base coach Luis Rojas’ signal to slide. Otherwise, it was all Yanks in a 5-0 victory. The Yankees even took it a step further in the eighth inning, when one of their actions left an Angels star injured and exiting the game. The moment came with Jorbit Vivas batting in front of catcher Logan O'Hoppe behind the plate. The Yankees called up Vivas from Triple-A on Monday in anticipation of Jazz Chisholm serving a one-game suspension. Vivas, 24, is a left-handed hitting, right-handed throwing, 5-foot-9 Venezuelan. This season so far, he's hitting a ridiculous .343 in Triple-A. That includes five doubles, two homers and 14 RBI, along with 10 walks compared to just four strikeouts.
