6/01/25 Tigers Star Prospect Falls Out of MLB Analyst's Updated Prospect Rankings. The Detroit Tigers burst onto the scene with an unprecedented run in 2024, overcoming a double-digit deficit in the standings and being sellers at the deadline to earn the No. 2 American League Wild Card berth and snap their nine-year playoff drought. The Tigers have an opportunity to build something special here with so much young talent already on the Major League roster and working their way through the minor league system. Over at The Athletic (subscription required), Keith Law has shared his updated prospect rankings, and Detroit is featured prominently in the top 50. Three position players, center fielder Max Clark, second baseman Kevin McGonigle and shortstop Bryce Rainer, are featured.

6/01/25 Henning: Double-A Erie draws closer for three hot-shot Tigers prospects. Everyone within the Tigers sphere, that is. Max Clark, Kevin McGonigle, and Josue Bricen~o will — perhaps soon — be on their way to Double-A Erie after putting together sterling springs at high Single-A West Michigan. Bricen~o in Thursday night's game at Dayton slammed three home runs and a 400-foot double in four at-bats that also saw him steal home. Heading into Sunday's game at Dayton, Bricen~o was batting: .268/.383/.622/1.005.

5/23/25 Tigers Top Prospect Mashes Grand Slam, Continues Dazzling Minor League Season. The Detroit Tigers have the best farm system in Major League Baseball, and with some graduations there is now a new face of the future for the organization. 2023 No. 3 overall selection in the MLB draft Max Clark is quickly becoming a household name across the sport despite being just 20 years old and not playing a game above the High-A level. Clark spent last season for the most part with Low-A Lakeland and by year's end was promoted to High-A West Michigan where he put up solid but pedestrian numbers over 34 games to close his first year as a professional. In 2025, he started his season at West Michigan and looks like he has already taken the next step in his development, absolutely tearing the cover off the ball as of late.

5/23/25 Detroit Tigers' Top Prospect HIs Mammoth Grand Slam on Thursday Night, Continues to Impress. Max Clark, the No. 7 overall prospect in baseball, continues to excel for the High-A West Michigan Whitecaps, hitting a big-time grand slam on Thursday night. The 20-year-old was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 draft out of the Indiana high school ranks. With numbers like these, he is cruising for a Double-A promotion by the end of the season. Just entering his 20s, Clark has already added strength from his amateur days, and if he adds a little more loft as part of that trajectory, there's the potential for at least average power.

5/11/25 How long before Tigers prize Max Clark sets sail for Erie?. Predicting when Max Clark gets his orders for Double A Erie and his next stage of Tigers lineup preparation is natural even six weeks into Single A West Michigan's spring. A best guess on when Clark heads for Erie is sometime in July as the midseason breaks arrive for MLB and minor-league teams. Clark got his West Michigan promotion last July and figures to climb another rung 12 months later thanks to numbers he brought into Sunday's game against Lansing at LMCU Ballpark. Clark, who it should be remembered does not turn 21 until December, was batting .317 for the Whitecaps.

1/09/25 MLB Executives Vote Tampa Bay Rays' Chandler Simpson as Fastest Prospect in Baseball. Thanks in large part to his record-breaking 2023 and 2024 campaigns, Tampa Bay Rays prospect Chandler Simpson has earned some high praise heading into 2025. MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo recently conducted a poll across the league, gathering executives and scouts' thoughts on the game's most intriguing young players. Unsurprisingly, Simpson lapped the competition by picking up 48.8% of the vote. Baltimore Orioles outfielder Enrique Bradfield Jr. came in second with 17.1%, followed by Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Justin Crawford in third with 14.6%, then Detroit Tigers outfielder Max Clark and Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Konnor Griffin tied for fourth with 4.9% each.

1/03/25 Max Clark leaving an imprint on home turf before leaving for Florida. Max Clark has always viewed the hitting cages at Powerhouse Athletics as one of the gravitational centers of his development as a player. On Saturday, the Franklin native will be at Powerhouse for the dedication of the Max-Factor Hitting Lab, so named after the city's favorite baseball son decided to formally sponsor the training area where he's sharpened his skills over the years. Clark will make an appearance at the event, where anyone willing to buy a $100 ticket can get an item signed by the Detroit Tigers prospect, take a photo with him and take some swings in the cages, which are outfitted with HitTrax simulators. “The sponsorship came along because it was something that I've always wanted to do,” Clark said.

10/06/24 Henning: Looking back, and looking ahead, on the Tigers' farm. A good year for a certain baseball team in Detroit was pretty much matched in the minors as Tigers farm clubs had in 2024 the best overall winning percentage of any MLB club. Better drafting, sharp signings on the minor-league free-agent front, and a clear uptick in development dividends were all part of a farm-team ascent that should be of steady benefit to the Tigers and their big-league roster. Max Clark, center field, West Michigan: Clark doesn't turn 20 until December and still did what a third overall pick in 2023 was expected to accomplish at his first stop, low-A Lakeland, followed by a midseason ticket to the high-A Whitecaps: He hit a combined .279 in 107 games, with a .372 on-base average and .421 slugging percentage, with a .794 OPS in definite line with what the Tigers had hoped a teen this talented would do in his first full season of professional baseball.

8/16/24 Tigers' Max Clark, No. 7 prospect in baseball, taking West Michigan by storm. A little over a year ago, just before Max Clark left his home in Franklin, Indiana, for TigerTown in Lakeland, Florida, his dad, Richard, gave him a gift. Heck, north, as in Detroit, where Clark hopes to bring glory back to a franchise that hasn't made the postseason in a decade or won a World Series in 40 years.

7/23/24 Whitecaps' quiet bats, rain delay dampen debut of Tigers' top prospects. 9 1 / 9 Tigers' top prospect to make West Michigan debut By Patrick Nothaft | pnothaft@mlive.com COMSTOCK PARK, MI – Detroit Tigers' top prospect Max Clark logged his first hit at the High-A level, but it was one of the few bright spots for the West Michigan Whitecaps in Tuesday's weather-delayed 5-1 loss to the Lansing Lugnuts. The Whitecaps managed just three hits, the last of which was a chopper off the bat of Clark in the bottom of the eighth inning that eluded the glove of Lansing second baseman Sahid Valenzuela and bounced into right field for the 19-year-old's first single in a West Michigan uniform.
