7/29/24 Cardinals defense, reliever Chris Roycroft yield 3-run 7th inning in a 6-3 loss to Rangers. Speaking with reporters before Monday's game, Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said he wouldn't close the door on potentially adding to club's relief corps before Tuesday's MLB trading deadline. A few hours later, the Cardinals bullpen gave up critical runs in the last third of the game against the Texas Rangers. A pair of Cardinals misplays in the field contributed to those runs, and a one-run deficit quickly turned into an uphill battle. Ultimately, a three-run seventh inning provided breathing room for the Rangers and put the Cardinals on their way to their fourth loss in their past five games, 6-3 in front of an announced crowd of 34,281 in the opener of a three-game series at Busch Stadium.

6/19/24 Cardinals' Chris Roycroft walks off frustrated by 10th-inning breaks as Marlins even series. Cardinals rookie relief pitcher Chris Roycroft left the door open by not covering first base in the 10h inning. The Miami Marlins walked through that door and earned a walk-off win to even their series. Marlins pinch hitter Vidal Brujan came off the bench and lined a 96.8-mph fastball from Roycroft into right field for an RBI single and handed the Cardinals a 9-8 extra-inning loss in the second game of the three-game series at loanDepot Park on Tuesday night. The Marlins scored two runs to steal the win in the 10th inning after a Dylan Carlson sacrifice fly gave the Cardinals (36-36) a one-run edge.
