8/23/25 3 things we learned from the Saints' loss to the Broncos in preseason finale. For the first time this preseason, we got a good look at the Saints' first-team defense. Most of the starters were held out of the first two games, but they got some work this time against Sean Payton's offense. Swing tackle Landon Young had to be carted off the field, a big blow to a unit that has struggled in the preseason. If you play fantasy football, it wouldn't be a bad idea to draft kicker Blake Grupe.

12/08/24 Blake Grupe has already made Saints history in Year 2. Blake Grupe's performance this year has flown under the radar. 12/01/24 Game Recap: Los Angeles Rams 21, New Orleans Saints 14. The Saints dominated the first half but only had two Blake Grupe 54-yard field goals to show for it. Playing again without star center Erik McCoy, the offensive line struggled with protection as quarterback Derek Carr was 24 of 36 for 184 yards with a 28-yard touchdown pass to Marques Valdes-Scantling. Running back Alvin Kamara was the top offensive weapon with 23 carries for 112 yards. It was the 11th 100-yard game in Kamara's career.

9/22/24 New Orleans Saints lack timely play-making in loss to Eagles on Sunday. OFFENSE: The Saints scored on the opening possession of the game – a 34-yard Blake Grupe field goal – and scuffled to find any offensive rhythm after that. McCoy's absence absolutely was a factor; Philly wreaked havoc defensively on the interior, holding New Orleans to 89 rushing yards on 29 carries and routinely stuffing runs up the middle. Quarterback Derek Carr (14 of 25 for 142 yards and a touchdown, with an interception) was under constant pressure, and the result of a smothered run game and harassed quarterback was 219 yards of offense and no touchdown until the fourth quarter.

9/09/24 New Orleans Saints quickly quell celebration after monumental win, move on to preparation for Dallas. The Saints allowed one sack, ran for 180 yards and two touchdowns on 37 carries, averaged 6.1 yards per play, forced three turnovers, produced four sacks, held the Panthers to 193 yards, had kickoff returns of 33 and 32 yards and a punt return of 47, and Blake Grupe was good on all four field-goal attempts. The same thing that we did to get ready for Carolina in terms of our preparation – mentally, physically, emotionally – put our head down and go to work.

8/05/24 Door hasn't been kicked closed by New Orleans Saints' specialists. – If there was any notion that there wouldn't be a kicking competition this year for the New Orleans Saints, squash it. Blake Grupe, who won the job last year over veteran Wil Lutz, and Charlie Smyth, a former Gaelic football goalkeeper who never has kicked in an NFL game, are jockeying for the spot in training camp.

6/13/24 The Saints' kicking competition is one to watch -- and the coaches know it. Blake Grupe turned out as a decent find for the New Orleans Saints, who added the Notre Dame product as an undrafted free agent in 2023. The kicker now has competition in Ireland native Charlie Smyth, whom New Orleans signed through the International Pathways Program in March after impressing at the NFL Combine. Grupe made 30-of-37 field goal attempts (81.1%) last season, which was tied for the 26th-best rate in the NFL.
