4/13/25 Along Zac Veen's road to Rockies debut, outfielder never lost faith in himself or abandoned signature edge to his game. When high school dominance met pro ball reality, Zac Veen was shook. Veen, Colorado's first-round draft pick at No. 9 overall in 2020, had to wait nearly a year to make his minor-league debut after the pandemic wiped out the '20 season. “I don't think I struck out that many times in one entire season in high school,” Veen said. There were hot streaks and promising signs, including an appearance in the 2022 All-Star Futures Game, that showcased Veen's athleticism, speed and signature edge to his game.

4/09/25 Prospect News: Feel The Peña Everyone or Take Zac Veen. At the risk of overstating the reality, I’m happy to see the Zac Veen era is underway in Colorado. My bold predictions article says he’ll steal 40 bases this season, so that’s pretty much a lock at this point. Or perhaps he’ll be back in the minors a month from now. I’m betting against that, obviously. I think it’s more important for the organization to get Veen right than it is for them to, for example, get Jordan Beck right.

4/08/25 Rockies calling up former first-round pick Veen. The Colorado Rockies promote Zac Veen to the majors, replacing Jordan Beck. Veen, a 23-year-old outfielder, could potentially make his Major League debut Tuesday night at Coors Field against the Milwaukee Brewers.

4/07/25 Keeler: Rockies' Chase Dollander aced biggest Coors Field debut since Kyle Freeland. Watching Dollander pitch is the most fun you can have sober at 20th and Blake, at least until Zac Veen officially joins the party. His four-seam fastball during a 12-5 thrashing of the (TBD) Athletics maxed out at 99.3 miles per hour. The toughness to hang in and hang on when The Ghosts of Coors Past try to buck you halfway to Wazee. In the fourth inning, Dollander got out of a jam with two men on with one of the prettiest back-to-back whiffs you'll ever see. The former Tennessee Volunteers star struck out one guy on a breaking ball that dove at the batters' shins and punched the next hitter out by getting him to swing through a high fastball.

4/07/25 Rockies set to call up top prospect amid 2-7 start. The Colorado Rockies once again appear to be one of the worst teams in the majors, crawling out to a 2-7 start, resulting in them already being six games behind the San Francisco Giants in the National League West standings. As a result, a youth movement could already be underway in Colorado, as the team is reportedly set to promote one of their top prospects, outfielder Zac Veen. Veen, who was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft, climbed the ranks last year all the way up to Triple-A, which is where he started the 2024 campaign at.

3/25/25 Rockies' Zac Veen hopes big-league call comes sooner rather than later. Zac Veen sat in the Tampa International Airport Tuesday night, waiting for the flight to return him to the minors. Meanwhile, the Rockies will open their regular season on Friday afternoon against the Rays at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Many thought Veen deserved a spot on the Rockies' 26-man roster after a strong spring training, including scores of fans. What does Veen think?

2/27/25 Colorado Rockies prospect Zac Veen is crushing Spring Training. This is the intro where I wax poetic about Spring Training and hope, then follow it up with a bunch of caveats that imply you should ignore everything you are about to read. Taken in the first round of the draft back in 2020, Veen's minor league career has been explosive in both good and bad ways. Unfortunately for Veen, and fans of five-tool prospects, he has also spent much of that time recovering from various injuries that have delayed his eventual and inevitable arrival. The play that best indicates who the Rockies might have on their hands, though, didn't show up in the box score.

2/22/25 Rockies Journal: Zac Veen, stalled by injuries, not about to fade away. Zac Veen arrived at spring training with long, purple hair. “I've wanted to do it for a few years now,” the Rockies outfield prospect said. Because Veen, once the Rockies' hottest prospect, still has the size, speed and talent to make his mark in the majors.

12/09/24 Rockies Journal: Time for Zac Veen to step up, stay healthy. Zack Veen is on the clock. The Rockies outfielder, who turns 23 on Thursday, has played four injury-ridden professional seasons and has never gotten close to making the big-league roster. The ninth overall pick of the 2020 draft out of Florida's Spruce Creek High School still needs more playing time in the minors, so he almost certainly won't begin the season on the big-league roster. While general manager Bill Schmidt still believes in Veen, Schmidt knows it's time for Veen to step up.
