1/03/24 2023 Los Angeles Dodgers Player Reviews: Adam Kolarek. The Los Angeles Dodgers called on a number of arms to get overcome various injuries their pitching staff endured during the 2023 season and utilized multiple bullpen games. Adam Kolarek was a piece to that equation in June against the Philadelphia Phillies. Kolarek was given a shot with the Dodgers in their series finale against the Phillies on June 11, when Andre Jackson was optioned to make room for the left-hander. In 21 relief appearances in Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to his call-up, Kolarek carried a 2.18 ERA and 1.35 WHIP.

12/20/23 Angels address defense by signing veteran outfielder. It's been a slow-moving offseason around the league, and the Los Angeles Angels are certainly no exception to that. The only major league deals they've agreed to have been for middle relievers Adam Kolarek, Luis Garcia, and Adam Cimber. The inactivity has been frustrating for Angels fans, but it's not the end of the world when so many free agents remain on the board. There's still plenty of time for Perry Minasian to build the good team he's continued to say he'll build.

12/03/23 2023 Dodgers in review: Adam Kolarek. Adam Kolarek pitched for three major league organizations in 2023, including in the majors for two of them with a 0.00 ERA. Up first was a reunion with the Dodgers, for whom he pitched in the postseason in both 2019 and 2020. The Dodgers signed Kolarek to a minor league contract in December 2022 that included a non-roster invitation to spring training. A hot start in Triple-A, including just one extra-base hit against him with a 2.18 in his first 21 appearances for Oklahoma City, got Kolarek the call back to the majors on June 11.

11/27/23 Adam Kolarek signs major league deal with Angels. Technically the only completed major league transaction during the four-day turkey-infused stretch came on Sunday night, with the Angels signing old friend Adam Kolarek to a one-year contract. Kolarek's deal is worth $900,000, and it's a major league contract for the left-hander who will turn 35 years old in January. In any other era, Kolarek would have been an ideal LOOGY reliever, holding left-handed batters to just .184/.235/.250 in his career, compared to right-handers hitting .309/.394/.485 against him. The ground-ball specialist pitched in the postseason in both 2019 and 2020 for the Dodgers, then got traded to Oakland.

11/26/23 Angels sign veteran reliever Adam Kolarek to a 1-year deal. The Los Angeles Angels have signed veteran left-handed reliever Adam Kolarek to a one-year, $900,000 deal. The Angels announced the deal Sunday night for Kolarek, who made five total major league appearances for the Dodgers and the Mets last season before finishing the year in the Atlanta Braves' minor league system. The 34-year-old Kolarek spent his first 2 1/2 major league seasons with Tampa Bay before getting traded to the Dodgers in 2019 and winning a World Series ring in 2020.

8/21/23 Mets call up player 13 years after they drafted him. The New York Mets wanted him and then didn't, but now he has found a way back to his original organization. Adam Kolarek was drafted by New York in the 11th round of the 2010 MLB draft, and 13 years later, he finally got his first call-up to the major-league team on Saturday. It has been quite the winding path for the 34-year-old journeyman who never got to play for the Mets during his first stint and was released in 2015. “I could've never guessed that this is how my season was going to continue,” Kolarek said Saturday, per Newsday.

8/19/23 Mets call up Adam Kolarek and Vinny Nittoli, option Joey Lucchesi, and designate Dennis Santana for assignment. Ahead of their game in St. Louis tonight, the Mets made a few roster moves, all of which involved pitchers. The team has called up Adam Kolarek and Vinny Nittoli, optioned Joey Lucchesi to Triple-A Syracuse, and designated Dennis Santana for assignment. The Lucchesi move is at least somewhat surprising, as he threw five-and-two-thirds scoreless innings last night against the Cardinals with five strikeouts and two walks. If Kolarek gets into a game, he'll be making his first major league appearance for the Mets, the team that drafted him back in 2010.

6/27/23 Dodgers Roster: Adam Kolarek Outrighted To Triple-A Oklahoma City After Clearing Waivers. Adam Kolarek recently cleared waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City after being designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Dodgers to make room on their 40-man roster for Shelby Miller to return from bereavement leave. Because Kolarek had previously been outrighted in his career, he had the right to refuse the Minor League assignment. The left-hander has thrown 2.2 scoreless innings in three appearances since returning to OKC. While Dodgers put Kolarek on waivers as the corresponding move to reinstating Miller, the right-hander wound up on the 15-day injured list shortly after because of neck trouble.

That became the bag Adam carried to Little League games, even growing up an Orioles fan near Baltimore. They toted the bag around so much “it literally disintegrated,” Frank said.
