4/25/24 Padres' Kim Ha-seong posts 2nd straight multihit game; Giants' Lee Jung-hoo hitless off bench. For the first time this season, Kim Ha-seong of the San Diego Padres has pieced together multiple hits in back-to-back games. Kim batted 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored a run as the Padres defeated the Colorado Rockies 5-2 at Coors Field in Denver on Wednesday (local time). Kim opened the scoring during the Padres' four-run first inning. Down 0-2 in the count against starter Ty Blach, Kim got just enough of a down-and-away changeup, and the ball landed in no-man's land, beyond the reach of first baseman Elehuris Montero.

12/27/23 Wednesday Rockpile: How big a role will Ty Blach play in 2024?. Pitching is the name of the game for the Colorado Rockies this offseason — which is nothing new — and while they have brought in just two pieces for the Major League team, minor league contracts have been and will continue to be the main way they build up depth. One such option returning for his third straight season is the Little Cat himself, Ty Blach. Signed on a minor league pact before the 2022 season, Blach has found himself bouncing between the big league roster and Triple-A Albuquerque for the past two seasons and once again finds himself in competition for a spot on the roster. Knowing the role he played with the pitching staff in 2022 and 2023, how big a role will Blach play for the 2024 Rockies?

The purpose of this list is to provide a snapshot of the player in context. If the Colorado Rockies have had a “utility pitcher” over the last two seasons, it is surely Ty Blach. Better call Ty!

10/11/23 Wednesday Rockpile: Arbitration leaves room for improvement in 2024. Almost a year ago to the day, I wrote an article exploring the early arbitration cases for the Colorado Rockies. The team ended up cutting ties with just two players in that initial group, outrighting Ty Blach and non-tendering Garrett Hampson (Blach was later re-signed to a minor league deal). Heading into the offseason, the Rockies once again find themselves in a position to make some and shape the roster for 2024 by how they address the seven players currently eligible for arbitration. MLB Trade Rumors has a handy article full of projections that will be a basis for this article today.

PHOENIX — On Sunday, the Baltimore Orioles were blanked by Colorado Rockies pitcher Ty Blach, a right-hander whose brief performance for Baltimore during its rebuild was one of the club’s worst. On Friday, they were stymied by an Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher who spent the first four years of his professional career in Baltimore’s minor league system. 8/27/23 Orioles shut down by Ty Blach, one of the worst pitchers of their rebuild, in 4-3 loss to Rockies. Part of the reason the story of the 2023 Orioles is so great is the teams they have followed, the years of ineptitude and bad baseball, batters who struggled to get hits and pitchers for whom it sometimes seemed impossible to get outs. Ty Blach was among the latter. Five mostly disastrous starts in 2019 left him as, by one statistical measure, the worst pitcher in franchise history. Sunday at Camden Yards, he delivered one of the best opposing pitching performances this year's Orioles have seen, allowing a run over seven innings in the Colorado Rockies' 4-3 victory to avoid a sweep.
