4/04/24 A decision may be coming soon for struggling Chicago Cubs reliever. It's been a struggle to start the season for Chicago Cubs reliever Yency Almonte after he was acquired by the team in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers this offseason. The latest example of that was the Cubs' victory over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night. The Cubs were well on their way to cruising to a blowout victory before the bullpen struggled. Almonte was among the relievers that had a hard time getting outs on Wednesday as he allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while only being able to record one out.

2/01/24 Cubs Designate Promising Reliever For Assignment. Chicago Cubs Designate Promising Reliever For Assignment The Chicago Cubs have decided to designate one of their relievers for assignment. Author: Brad Wakai Publish date: Feb 1, 2024 8:00 PM EST In this story: Chicago Cubs Entering the offseason, the Chicago Cubs had a clear need in their bullpen after it faltered late last year. Lack of depth caused by injuries forced the coaching staff to overuse the available players and they eventually ran out of gas. The front office needed to bring in some high-profile arms ready to jump into starring roles and create more depth in case those same issues became present in 2024. They were able to accomplish that with two moves, getting Yency Almonte in

1/22/24 2023 Los Angeles Dodgers Player Reviews: Yency Almonte. Yency Almonte set high expectations for himself heading into the 2023 season after a breakout in 2022 that saw him become one of the most trusted arms in the Los Angeles Dodgers' bullpen. Almonte was of course on the Opening Day roster, but March and April proved to be a struggle for him as he pitched 11.2 innings with a 8.49 ERA. Following that time, Almonte started to pitch better in May as he limited hitters to a .175/.250/.425 line, but he still allowed seven runs in his 11.1 innings during the month. The 29-year-old finished the 2023 season throwing 48 innings with a 5.06 ERA, 4.59 FIP and 1.40 WHIP while striking out 23.6% of hitters and walking 11.5%.

1/16/24 Dodgers Linked to All-Star Free Agent Reliever. Dodgers Linked to All-Star Free Agent Reliever L.A. has the opportunity to add a veteran arm to the pen. Author: Ricardo Sandoval Publish date: Jan 16, 2024 8:11 PM EST In this story: Los Angeles Dodgers The Los Angeles Dodgers' roster appears close to set heading into the 2024 season. However, they still have a few minor holes that can be addressed before Opening Day. One of the biggest holes may be in the bullpen, as the Dodgers recently traded Yency Almonte , and Ryan Brasier remains on the free agent market. The Dodgers have been linked to All-Star closer Josh Hader, but he's looking for a contract higher than Edwin Diaz's five-year, $102 million deal. If the Dodgers wanted

1/12/24 Cubs swing for the fences with Michael Busch. The Cubs made a bold move yesterday, dealing two promising, but very young, prospects for a major-league ready slugger. Yes, the Cubs also picked a right-handed reliever in Yency Almonte, but make no mistake, this deal was about getting the Dodgers' No. 1 prospect (according to Baseball America), infielder Michael Busch. In many ways, yesterday's trade reminds me of the Anthony Rizzo trade of over a decade earlier. Michael Busch is a left-handed hitting infielder who was the Pacific Coast League MVP last season. The Pacific Coast League is still a hitters league, but Oklahoma City's home park is one on the tougher places to hit home runs in that league.
