5/17/24 Padres' Josh Hader Trade Already Looking Bad 2 Years Later. The trade made sense at the time: The Padres were 60-46, second place in the National League West and hoping to gain a cushion in the wild card race. Their closer, Taylor Rogers, had 28 saves but also a 4.35 ERA and a relatively pedestrian 94.3-mph fastball. Moreover, the best closer in the game was available via trade. That would be Josh Hader, whom the Padres acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers on Aug. 1, 2022 for a package of four players : Rogers, pitcher Dinelson Lamet and prospects Esteury Ruiz and Robert Gasser. Almost two years later, it's clear the Brewers made the most of their side of the trade. The Padres can't say the same. The Brewers missed the postseason in 2022 but advanced to

4/16/24 SF Giants' bullpen backslides in loss to lowly Miami Marlins. The Giants' relief corps, maligned for the season's opening week, had started to turn things around on this road trip. Walker lived up his last name, and Taylor Rogers wasn't much more effective. The relief duo allowed the Marlins to score three runs in the seventh inning, which put the game out of reach for the Giants in a 6-3 loss in front of another sparse crowd at loanDepot Park. Brought in to face the left-handed Luis Arraez with the bases loaded and one run already in, Rogers got ahead 0-1, then fired a 93-mph fastball.

4/04/24 Shohei Ohtani’s 1st home run for Dodgers helps them sweep Giants. Playing his ninth game for his new team, Ohtani sends a sinker from left-hander Taylor Rogers 430 feet into the right-center field pavilion in the seventh inning of a 5-4 win.

3/13/24 SF Giants-Reds: Bullpen competition takes center stage; Patrick Bailey gets prognosis. Five years since signing as a relatively unknown prospect out of Venezuela, Sánchez hadn't pitched above Single-A. The few major-league spring training games he appeared in, it was in relatively anonymity, one of the many players sent over from minor-league camp to play out the final innings once the big leaguers had subbed out. Sánchez's place squarely in the competition for a roster spot was only solidified Wednesday, appearing alongside the only two left-handed relievers remaining in camp — besides Taylor Rogers — and putting up the only scoreless frame among them in a slugfest of a loss, 19-11, to the Reds. “With the conditions today, that's something,” manager Bob Melvin said. Using a crossfire motion from the left side, not unlike Ryan Walker from the opposite angle, Sánchez sat in the mid-90s with his fastball, landed his slurvy breaking ball for strikes and recorded all three of his outs, including a swinging strikeout, with his changeup, which he called his best pitch.

12/10/23 Player Review: Taylor Rogers. On April 12th, tasked with preserving a 3-3 tie against the Doogies in the 6th inning, Taylor Rogers instead didn't record an out. After walking the four batters he faced, he watched from the dugout as his ERA swelled from an unsightly 8.10 to a ghastly 18.90 as all of them eventually crossed home in an inning capped by a 3-run homer by Max Muncy. Rogers had given up homers in his first two appearances—including a truly devastating solo home run to Salvador Perez that sparked a Royals come-from-behind win—and allowed 7 runs on 6 walks and only 1 strikeout over his first 3.1 innings for the San Francisco Giants. Taylor Rogers was in real danger of becoming the scarred side of Harvey Dent'sTwo-Face, the ugly twin.

9/17/23 Rookies Hunter Goodman, Brenton Doyle homer but Rockies' five-game winning streak ends. The Rockies' best run of the season came to a halt with an 11-10 loss to the Giants on Sunday afternoon at Coors Field. The Giants held on for the victory when Taylor Rogers got Charlie Blackmon to line out weakly to second base. The Giants really won the game when their bats came out of hibernation and they sent 12 men to the plate in an eight-run sixth inning. Colorado's loss ended its season-best five-game winning streak and prevented it from a rare four-game sweep of San Francisco.

8/20/23 SF Giants mount game-winning rally without a hit to beat Braves, after nearly blowing it in the 8th. A hit, who needs a hit? After blowing a late lead for the second straight game here when Taylor Rogers issued back-to-back walks and Ronald Acuña Jr. scored the tying run on a stolen base and and a throwing error with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, the Giants stole a win to avoid being swept in this three-game series when Atlanta's ninth-inning reliever, Kirby Yates, was even more erratic.

7/09/23 What will SF Giants do during All-Star break? The Rogers twins are going golfing. With their lockers next to each other in a corner of the Giants' clubhouse, you'd think twin brothers Tyler and Taylor Rogers would enjoy a little time apart before embarking on the second half of the season. “My wife and son are visiting their in-laws in Indiana, so it's just me and my brother,” Tyler Rogers said Sunday before the Giants concluded a a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies leading into the four-day All-Star break. Rather than give the pre-bye group speech common in the NFL during bye weeks, Giants manager Gabe Kapler plans on having players delivered to players one-on-one regarding rest, relaxation and also getting in just the right amount of work. “This is not necessarily the sport where you get in front of the group and fire people up,” Kapler said.

7/08/23 Rocky mountain lows. Taylor Rogers started to walk off the mound after he thought his 3-2 sweeper caught the outside of the plate. It did, but it didn't according to home plate umpire, Dan Bellino. Instead of returning to the dugout with a scoreless 7th under his belt, preserving the 2-2 tie against the Colorado Rockies, Brenton Doyle took the second walk, forcing Gabe Kapler to pull Rogers. Taylor returned to the dugout with his inning unfinished and in the hands of his identical twin Tyler.

7/07/23 Rogers twins team up to give Rockies late lead as SF Giants' bats stay silent in loss. The twin pairing of Tyler and Taylor Rogers in the Giants bullpen has been more than a feel-good story. Such was the case Friday night against the Rockies, with the score tied at 2 entering the seventh inning. The twins who had been so good of late imploded in their own ways, sending the Giants to a 5-2 loss to the last-place Rockies, who hadn't won a road game since June 13 and hadn't beaten the Giants since last season.

6/08/23 Back home, SF Giants' Rogers twins share special moment in win over Rockies. On their drive to Coors Field on Tuesday, Tyler and Taylor Rogers looked at each other and took a moment to recognize their reality. “We were like, nothing gets cooler than this,” Taylor said. The twins shared another, even more special moment in the seventh inning of Wednesday's game. As the Giants rallied for their first runs of the game, setting up a come-from-behind 5-4 win, the bullpen phone rang.

5/23/23 Why SF Giants' series in Minnesota is meaningful for LaMonte Wade Jr., Taylor Rogers. A lifelong Denver Broncos fan, Taylor Rogers thought of Peyton Manning on Monday. “For whatever reason that popped into my head yesterday,” the Giants' reliever said Tuesday before the second game of their series against the Twins. “The Broncos went back to Indianapolis and they played a video of Peyton Manning, and he played like (crap) that day.” Rogers didn't pitch in the Giants' series-opening win, and “it's probably a good thing,” he said a day later.

5/17/23 SF Giants' Taylor Rogers threw away his glove and hasn't allowed a run since. Taylor Rogers had a parting message Tuesday night after five minutes of answering reporters' questions following his scoreless inning of work in the Giants' 4-3 win over the Phillies, in which the bullpen took down 17 of the 27 outs.

4/15/23 Giants fall in extras for 2nd straight game, Pederson heads to IL. Taylor Rogers (0-2) started the 11th with a wild pitch, which moved Spencer Torkelson to third. Cabrera batted for Akil Baddoo and hit a 2-2 sinker up the middle for his 3,095th career hit and the winning run. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said he had been saving Cabrera and fellow righty Tyler Nevin for a lefthanded reliever. “We were going to go after Rogers with righties — Nevin was already on deck — but once we got the runner to third with the wild pitch, we were all confident that Miggy was going to get it done," Hinch said.
