His next destination is unknown. The Tigers informed Diaz on Tuesday that he wouldn't make the 2024 Opening Day roster , so the DFA was merely a formality. But by waiting until the last moment to put him on waivers -- something many teams do -- the Tigers made it less likely that he would be claimed by another team.
