4/28/24 Alex Verdugo, Yankees hope to clean up again vs. Brewers. No one knows for sure how long the assignment will last, but Alex Verdugo was a smash hit in his debut Saturday as the New York Yankees' cleanup hitter. Yankees manager Aaron Boone shook up his lineup before New York battered the host Milwaukee Brewers 15-3 to even their three-game series. Boone didn't say if Verdugo would remain in the No. 4 spot in Sunday's finale -- but why not? The Yankees set season highs with 15 runs and 19 hits, and both teams finished the blowout with position players on the mound.

4/28/24 Carlos Rodón pitches 6 strong innings and Yankees hit 4 homers in a 15-3 rout of Brewers. Carlos Rodón pitched two-hit, one-run ball through six innings and the New York Yankees hit four home runs in a 15-3 rout of the Milwaukee Brewers. Alex Verdugo had a three-run homer in the first inning. Aaron Judge and Anthony Rizzo added two-run shots in the sixth that put New York up 11-1. It was Judge’s fifth homer of the season and Rizzo’s fourth. Giancarlo Stanton hit a three-run homer, his sixth, in the ninth off infielder Owen Weaver, who pitched the final two innings. Rodón (2-1) allowed a solo homer in the first to Rhys Hoskins and a leadoff double in the sixth inning to Joey Ortiz. The 31-year-old lefty struck out eight and walked one.

4/27/24 Red Sox fans won't like Alex Verdugo's comments about experience with Yankees. This winter, the Boston Red Sox sent outfielder Alex Verdugo to the New York Yankees. From barking in the outfield with Aaron Judge and Juan Soto to being forced to shave his beard and limit his chain selection to one, the many pros and cons of Yankee life seem to suit Verdugo, and he appears hell-bent on ensuring the Red Sox know it. The outfielder recently told Bryan Hoch, the Yankees beat reporter for MLB.com, that the New York clubhouse has been his favorite that he's ever been in.
