6/24/25 Angels fix at third base may have just been gifted to them. As the Angels continue to wait for Yoan Moncada to recover from injury and take back over at third base, they may have found a saving grace courtesy of the Cincinnati Reds. The National League East squad placed third baseman Jeimer Candelario on waivers, making him available to any team via trade or outright signing. While the Angels likely do not want to take on the financial obligations attached to Candelario (he is owed $15 million this season and next), there are a couple of avenues they could go down.

6/22/25 Angels' $5 Million Infielder Provides Discouraging Update on Frustrating Injury. Los Angeles Angels third baseman Yoan Moncada gave a disappointing update on the knee injury which has kept him on the injured list since June 2. “I have been feeling better, but I still feel pain,” Moncada said. This is Moncada's second trip to the injured list since his move to the Angels in the offseason, the first lasting a little more than three weeks after he sustained a thumb sprain April 10. Moncada says he can swing left-handed but not right-handed, and that he can't do any defensive drills with his injury.

6/13/25 Angels' $5 Million Infielder Having 'Slow' Recovery From Injury. Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington said third baseman Yoan Moncada is having a "slow" recovery from right knee inflammation, which has kept him on the injured list since June 2. Moncada is eligible to return for the Angels series opener against the Orioles on Friday, but is unable to plant his back leg on his swing. Washington previously expected Moncada to return when eligible after having him hit off a tee and easing him into drills, but this may not be the case due to his injury troubles. The Angels signed Moncada to a one-year, $5 million contract over the offseason, and when he has been healthy he has been a force in the Angels' batting order.

6/12/25 Angels' $5 Million Breakout Slugger Linked to Yankees in Trade Deadline Move. Yoan Moncada's career has been an interesting one to say the least. A player with a ton of natural ability, the Cuban infielder first made a name for himself in 2016 as an elite prospect with the Boston Red Sox. With the White Sox, Moncada had middling success. Aside from one 25-homer season in which he hit .315 (in 2019), Moncada was woefully inconsistent as a performer and in terms of staying on the field.

6/08/25 Angels Manager Reveals When Yoan Moncada Will Return. Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington doesn't believe third baseman Yoan Moncada will have an extended stay on the injured list. Washington said Moncada began hitting off of a tee Saturday, and he plans to ease him into drills. “Once his time is up on the (IL), he should be back,” Washington said. Moncada is eligible to be activated on Friday for the first of a three game series against the Baltimore Orioles.
