The purpose of this list is to provide a snapshot of the player in context. The “Ranking” is an organizing principle that's drawn from Baseball Reference's WAR (rWAR). 5/21/23 Rockies select Matt Carasiti, designate Fernando Abad for assignment. The Colorado Rockies announced Sunday morning they have selected Matt Carasiti from Triple-A Albuquerque. Additionally, to make room, the Rockies have designated Fernando Abad for assignment. The Rockies traded him the following year to the Chicago Cubs during a strong season in Triple-A. He would become a free agent following the 2017 season and spent 2018 playing in Japan. After going 8-3 with a 3.99 ERA in 103 2/3 innings of relief, Carasiti returned to Major League Baseball with the Seattle Mariners in 2019.

2/02/21 Dom Amore: After Tommy John surgery, Berlin's Matt Carasiti has a new fastball, an old forkball and a chance to pitch for the Red Sox. Matt Carasiti released a pitch and he knew. He had never been injured in all his years throwing a baseball, but he felt that dreaded pop in his right elbow and knew what it meant. It was one pitch on strike three against the Indians,” Carasiti says.

1/27/21 Red Sox reportedly sign Matt Carasiti to a minor-league deal. The Red Sox have been adding a whole lot of pitching depth to their upper minor-league system over the last nine months or so, dating back to the unfreezing of transactions last summer. It’s not a bad idea, of course, given all of the questions on their pitching staff along with the questions of what kind of durability issues pitchers in general could be looking at in 2021 coming off the shortened 2020 season. The more arms you can have in tow, just in case, the better.

7/04/19 In another ‘opener’ failure, this time it’s Tommy Milone who costs Mariners a win. The Mariners frittered away a series they should have won. This time, it wasn't the Mariners' "opener" — Matt Carasiti — who cost them the game, but Tommy Milone, who entered in the second inning and failed to protect multiple leads.
