2/14/24 Cardinals executed their off-season strategy to flip the script in the rotation—now it must unfold on the field. As spring training begins through Florida and Arizona this week, the emphasis surrounding pitching depth will soon heighten for the teams unfortunate enough to be hit by the injury bug at the outset of camp. As it pertains to the Cardinals, president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said Wednesday that he had no new pitching setbacks to report aside from new reliever Keynan Middleton's absence from Wednesday's camp with a stomach bug. For what it's worth, Mozeliak mentioned Matt Liberatore and Zack Thompson as candidates for filling out rotation spots should the need invariably arise. “I think you always are going to be able to question depth,” Mozeliak said.

New York certainly should be considered one of the top teams in the American League right now but there still is work to be done. The biggest hole on the roster right now without a doubt is in the bullpen. New York has been linked to a handful of hurlers but hasn't solidified the bullpen to this point. It sounds like at least one or two moves are coming and one that could be on the way is a reunion with reliever

10/15/23 Should Yankees bring standout reliever back in free agency?. The only addition that the Yankees made to their big-league roster at this summer's trade deadline is now a free agent. Should the Yankees bring reliever Keynan Middleton back next season? It certainly sounds like Middleton is interested in a reunion. The right-hander told Greg Joyce of the New York Post that he would “love” to return, admitting that there aren't too many other places that he'd look at now that he's experienced playing for the Yankees.

9/03/23 Column: Firings. A shooting in the stands. And a Chicago White Sox GM search that wasn't a search. 10 days that shook the South Side.. From the moment Chicago White Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf fired longtime executives Ken Williams and Rick Hahn to fans unfurling a “Jerry Reinsdorf must go” banner in the ninth inning of Friday's loss to the Detroit Tigers at Guaranteed Rate Field, a season already off the rails veered off a cliff. The Sox already were in the midst of a stunning free-fall from a postseason team in 2021 to the fourth-worst record in baseball on Aug. 22. Traded reliever Keynan Middleton became an unlikely whistleblower, exposing a “no rules,” lackadaisical clubhouse culture exemplified by the pitcher's allegation a Sox teammate slept in the bullpen during games without repercussions.

8/11/23 Whirlwind stretch of suspensions, scoreboard snubs and wins have put the Chicago White Sox in the spotlight. The New York Yankees called on reliever Keynan Middleton in the fourth inning Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox. It was the right-hander's first time facing his former team a few days after saying in an interview with ESPN and the New York Daily News that the Sox clubhouse had “no rules,” which received pushback from general manager Rick Hahn and manager Pedro Grifol. “The omission was not intentional but resulted because of duplicate players listed under one uniform number on MLB's downloadable Yankees roster,” the Sox said Thursday morning in a statement.

8/10/23 The White Sox deny leaving Keynan Middleton's name off scoreboard deliberately after he criticized the team's culture. When it came to accusations of the Chicago White Sox having a culture problem, former reliever Keynan Middleton was the first to speak up. After he was traded to the New York Yankees, he said that “we came in with no rules,” mentioning that rookies were sleeping in the bullpen during games and so on. Now that you're caught up: Middleton came in to pitch on Wednesday at Guaranteed Rate Field. A fan noticed Middleton's name wasn't on the scoreboard, and what did THAT mean?
