1/31/24 | 2 ex-Tigers who spent last year in Toledo sign with Mariners. Veteran utility man Nick Solak played in the big leagues for the Detroit Tigers and Atlanta Braves in 2023. And yet he hasn't had a plate appearance since 2022. Solak has the unusual distinction of appearing in two games for two different big-league teams without getting a plate appearance in either of them. The 29-year-old signed a minor-league contract with the Seattle Mariners this week. Solak was a pinch-runner on April 26 for the Atlanta Braves and, after being claimed off waivers by the Tigers , a pinch-runner in Detroit on June 10. He finished his season -- which included stops in five organizations -- with Triple-A Toledo. 1/31/24 | Ex-Yankees draft pick lands with AL team. Infielder/outfielder Nick Solak is signing a minor league deal with the Seattle Mariners, according to Robert Murray of FanSided. The Yankees picked Solak in the second round of the 2016 draft and he was once viewed as a potential future second baseman for the organization before he was traded away in 2018.
