3/07/24 Yankees' Ian Hamilton strikes out five in dominant two-inning outing. Noteworthy items from the Yankees' Grapefruit League action on Thursday : Plucky 7 Ian Hamilton struck out five of the seven batters he faced across two innings of work. Last year's bullpen revelation could take on an even bigger role this season, perhaps as the Michael King-like, multi-inning weapon. Ian Hamilton struck out five in two innings in the Yankees' 11-5 exhibition loss to the Tigers. 2/18/24 Yankees' non-roster reliever already wowing | 'That's as good an arm as there is out there'. TAMPA — The Yankees already have an off-the-radar, non-roster contender to win a bullpen spot this spring. Their next Ian Hamilton might be a hard throwing but often-injured righty who joined the organization last December on a minor-league contract. Nick Burdi, 31, sure opened eyes throwing to hitters during Saturday's spring training practice. “Really impressive,” pitching coach Matt Blake said. “We know he's had tantalizing stuff.” YANKEES: Sign up HERE for our Yankees newsletter Burdi's fastball averaged 98 mph in his last two big-league seasons and it might not be his best pitch. His slider is elite, too. For years, Blake has been intrigued with both Burdi and his younger brother, Zack,

1/30/24 Could Matt Gage be Yankees' next under-the-radar gem in bullpen?. The Yankees have proven in recent years that their pitching department can bring the best out of all kinds of relievers. Take Ian Hamilton and Lucas Luetge, the veterans that began to revitalize their careers once they received non-roster invitations to Yankees camp in spring training. Clay Holmes and Wandy Peralta both blossomed into high-leverage arms once acquired by the Yankees. Plenty of prospects have developed under the tutelage of pitching coach Matt Blake and his staff as well, a reputation that extends down into the minor leagues.

1/25/24 Looking for contributions in unexpected places for the Yankees bullpen. Few teams manage to pull bullpen aces out of thin air quite like the Yankees do, whether it be through internal development or finding a diamond in the rough on the trade or free agent market. A few weeks ago, Estee Rivera took a look at some of the “homegrown” candidates for a breakout in the Yankees bullpen next summer. There are a lot of names to choose from, but if I had to guess at who 2024's Ian Hamilton might be, I'd probably put my money on one of these names. This isn't the first time we've written about how Gil shouldn't be written off, as Andrés Chávez called him a “dark horse” for a rotation spot just a few weeks ago.

1/21/24 Yankees Potential Free Agent Target: Keynan Middleton. Among the many unheralded arms that found success in the bigs working in the Yankees bullpen last season, such as Ian Hamilton and Nick Ramirez, the work done by Keynan Middleton might have gotten lost in the tracks. With the Yankees falling well short of their goals, Middleton's contributions came as the Yankees fell far out of the race. Middleton, now a free agent, came over on August 1, courtesy of a very low-profile trade with the Chicago White Sox. Anyone who had checked out by the stretch run with the Yankees fading may have missed it, but the right-hander left enough of an impression that a return to the Bronx has been rumored.
