The Angels are optioning hurler Zach Plesac, per SoCal News Group. Plesac is headed to the team's Triple-A team in Salt Lake City, Utah. The pitcher struggled in 2023, with a 7.59 ERA through 21.1 MLB innings with the Cleveland Guardians. The veteran also posted a 6.08 ERA across 19 Triple-A appearances, per CBS Sports. He had started 18 of those games in the minors. The hurler got off to another sluggish start in Spring Training games this year for the Angels. He allowed four earned runs in 6.1 innings in spring contests. Plesac signed with the Angels in January. “What he's done in the past, obviously '23 wasn't ideal

3/01/24 Potential Angels Starter Revamped His Pitch Mix This Offseason. Potential Angels Starter Revamped His Pitch Mix This Offseason The Angels are hoping he turns into a steal of a signing. Author: Maren Angus-Coombs Publish date: Mar 2, 2024 12:00 PM EST In this story: Los Angeles Angels The Los Angeles Angels are hoping they got a steal of a deal when Zach Plesac agreed to a $1 million, one-year deal. Plesac, once a promising young pitcher in the Cleveland organization, had a 3.32 ERA in his first two major league seasons with the Guardians. However, the past three years saw him post a 4.72 ERA, including a 7.59 ERA during a nightmarish five-start season in 2023. He spent the second half in Triple-A. To find his former self, the 29-year-old spent the offseason

2/23/24 Angels' Zach Plesac has two new pitches as he attempts career reboot. Zach Plesac is trying to get back his old self, with a new repertoire. Plesac spent part of his winter remaking himself at Driveline, the high-tech baseball training center. Plesac, 29, said he's replaced his four-seam fastball with a two-seamer, and he's changed his slider into more of a sweeper, which he hopes will help induce more swings and misses. If it works, the Angels could get a steal for the $1 million, one-year deal they gave Plesac last month.

1/16/24 Angels Reportedly 'Reluctant' to Add This Position in Free Agency. Angels Reportedly 'Reluctant' to Add This Position in Free Agency This report makes a lot of sense. Author: Noah Camras Publish date: Jan 17, 2024 12:00 PM EST In this story: Los Angeles Angels The Los Angeles Angels have remained relatively quiet thus far in free agency. They've added pitchers Zach Plesac, Luis Garcia and Adam Cimber, and lost two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. Not exactly a fair swap of value. The Angels have money to play with and have been linked to many of the top free agents still on the market including left-handed pitchers Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery , outfielder Cody Bellinger and outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler. It may be time to pump the brakes on

1/14/24 Angels Predicted to Land Mid-Tier Starting Pitcher Coming Off Solid Season. Angels Predicted to Land Mid-Tier Starting Pitcher Coming Off Solid Season Angels could be reunited with a former 2011 draft pick. Author: Thomas Murray Publish date: Jan 14, 2024 5:07 PM EST In this story: Los Angeles Angels The Los Angeles Angels have spent a majority of this offseason being linked to free agent starting pitchers, but have yet to land one outside of swingman Zach Plesac. As many of the top names are starting to come off the market, perhaps one veteran pitcher could reunite with the club that drafted him in 2011. Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report recently predicted where some of the free agent pitchers will sign this season, and he had the Angels signing right-handed pitcher Mike
