3/05/24 | Spring Training Game 11 - Phils Extend Wheeler as Team Falls to Jays. One Sentence Summary: The Phillies continue to work on some stuff as the pitching was great and the offense was mostly absent in this 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays. What It Means: The regular season starts in a little over three weeks. What Happened: Nick Nelson got the start, going three innings and allowing a solo home run to Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. in the first inning. Griff McGarry's struggles continued, as the pitching prospect couldn't escape the fifth inning. Source: https://thephilliesroom.blogspot.com/2024/03/sprin... |
12/15/23 | 2023 Phillies in review: Cristopher Sanchez. As the Phillies entered 2023 Spring Training, a variety of names were being considered for the fifth starter job. Toss in a splash of Nick Nelson as a swingman and a pinch of long-shot Mick Abel, and a competition was born (briefly). Injuries to Andrew Painter and Nick Nelson eliminated them from Opening Day roster consideration quite early. Mick Abel would've needed an earth shattering spring to make the cut, meaning Bailey Falter was the guy. Source: https://www.thegoodphight.com/2023/12/15/24002206/... |
