6/16/23 Josh Fleming and the Rays finally get good news. SAN DIEGO — After concerns about a possible season-ending injury, Josh Fleming and the Rays seemingly got good news Friday. 6/03/23 Rays, Josh Fleming await word on what caused 'a lot' of elbow discomfort. The Rays are waiting for further evaluation from doctors on the cause and extent of the left elbow injury that will sideline starter/bulk inning pitcher Josh Fleming for at least several weeks. Fleming had an MRI and CT scan Saturday morning after “a lot of discomfort” in playing catch on Friday. Fleming pitched last Sunday and threw a bullpen session Wednesday with no problem, but said he woke up Friday feeling some stiffness. Fleming said the discomfort on the outside of the elbow and near his triceps.

6/02/23 Rays' latest pitching issue: Josh Fleming headed to injured list. The Rays have another pitcher injury to deal with. Josh Fleming felt soreness on the outside of his left elbow playing catch Friday afternoon and is headed to the injured list some time in the next few days. The Rays were scrambling after Friday's game against the Red Sox was rained out to arrange an MRI exam on Saturday to better evaluate the extent of Fleming's injury and determine how much of an additional hole it will create in their rotation. Fleming was slated to start or work bulk innings in one of the games in Saturday's scheduled day-night doubleheader.

5/05/23 More Yankees-Rays fireworks coming: Series 'will be heated for sure,' Rays say. The Yankees face the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend in a crucial early-season series at Tropicana Field, one that could either bring the Bronx Bombers back into the AL East conversation or essentially put them out of reach of the division title in May. For a rivalry that has had its moments of late, it has the ingredients for more fireworks. “It's always going to be heated,” Rays pitcher Josh Fleming said, per the Tampa Bay Times.

5/04/23 Josh Fleming Had Almost a Perfect Day. ST. PETERSBURG, FL: Josh has had a bipolar start to the season, he got hit around in his first outing against the Nationals, nonetheless, he has made several adjustments. Josh Fleming was phenomenal, pounding the strike zone, and generating plenty of ground balls. Josh really showed out his sinker; it's time to say it, Josh Fleming's sinker is a unicorn.

5/03/23 Yankees Rivalry Roundup: Jays fall at Fenway again, Rays dispatch Bucs. The Yankees were able to snap their four-game losing streak with a mini-comeback late last night. Pittsburgh has been one of the biggest stories of the young season to date, roaring to their best start since 1992 by becoming the first National League team to reach 20 wins in 2023. Annoyingly, Tampa Bay didn't even have to use a real starter to dispatch the Buccos. Javy Guerra was the opener, and while he didn't do all that much and in fact had to be hooked with two outs and two walks on the books, “bulk guy” Josh Fleming carried the load.

5/02/23 Rays top Pirates to open series between baseball's best. Tampa Bay's Javy Guerra, making his first appearance since being reacquired from Milwaukee Saturday, was used as an opener for his first career start. Josh Fleming entered and gave up one run and two hits before he left in the fifth after taking a comebacker off his left foot.

4/26/23 Rays lefty Josh Fleming finds his role as the 'bulk' guy. Josh Fleming just seems more comfortable now. After struggling earlier this season as a starter, the lefty has given the Rays 16 1/3 solid innings in a row (with a 1.10 ERA over that span). Wednesday night, he was a lone Rays bright spot in a 1-0 loss to the Astros. Fleming threw six scoreless innings, giving up four hits, walking one and striking out two.

4/05/23 Yankees Rivalry Roundup: Tigers somehow win in Houston again. As Kevin detailed, last night was a quiet one in the Bronx as the Yankees fell to the Phillies, 4-1. Here's what the rest of the Yankees' top American League rivals did while the Yankees flailed at Phillies pitching. The two sides combined for eight runs in the first couple innings, as neither Josh Fleming nor Chad Kuhl offered much support out of the gate. Jose Siri gave Tampa Bay a 4-2 lead, but the Nats quickly answered off Fleming on doubles by CJ Abrams and Lane Thomas to tie it up.

4/04/23 Rays Use Comeback To Knock Off Nationals Again. The Tampa Bay Rays (5-0) defeated the Washington Nationals (1-4) 10-6 on Tuesday evening in Washington, DC. The Rays improve their franchise best start to five straight wins to begin the 2023 campaign. The Rays started hot once again in this one, building a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Unfortunately Rays starter Josh Fleming was unable to hold the lead, giving up five earned runs on ten hits in three innings while striking out two and walking one.

4/03/23 Rays' Josh Fleming ready to atone for a rocky 2022 season. Coming off a rough 2022 season, Josh Fleming has been waiting eagerly for the chance to make his first start for the Rays this year. Fleming was happy just to be in the big leagues again after going 2-5, 6.43 last year, shuttling between Triple-A and the majors, dealing with inconsistency and injury. Fleming, who also had to overcome a brutal first spring outing (allowing hits to the first six Twins), beat out Yonny Chirinos and Luis Patino to claim the last rotation spot following the oblique strain that will sideline Tyler Glasnow into May. He said talks with mental performance director Justin Su'a helped him a lot.

3/26/23 Josh Fleming wins rotation spot with the Rays. LAKELAND — Josh Fleming will not make his scheduled final spring training start Monday. Nothing is wrong with the left-hander. In fact, it’s great news for him. With a spot open because of Tyler Glasnow’s oblique injury, Fleming won the competition to take his place in the rotation. The Rays optioned Yonny Chirinos to Triple-A Durham before Sunday afternoon’s game against the Tigers at Joker ...
