5/14/24 Deadspin | Cardinals score 8 runs in 7th inning to rally past Angels. The St. Louis Cardinals scored eight runs in the seventh inning to rally from a four-run deficit and beat the Los Angeles Angels 10-5 Monday night in Anaheim, Calif. The Cardinals had scored as many as eight runs in a game only twice all season before Monday, and not at all in more than a month, before they got seven hits, two walks and a hit batter on their way to their biggest inning of the season. The Angels got 5 1/3 scoreless innings from starter Jose Soriano and a key double-play grounder with the bases-loaded by reliever Adam Cimber off the bat of Paul Goldschmidt, taking a 4-0 lead into the seventh.

4/17/24 Angels encouraged by Jose Soriano's development as a starter. José Soriano took another step along what the Angels hope is the path to being a frontline major league starter. Long before the Angels' gut-wrenching, 13-inning loss to the Tampa Bay Rays ended on Tuesday night, it was set up to be Soriano's first victory as a big league starter. “I think he's coming along,” Manager Ron Washington said on Wednesday. As a starter, you have to have everything in better shape to be able to throw 100 or 120 pitches.

6/25/23 Angels go from blowout win to one-run loss to Rockies. The Angels could have used a few runs from their record-setting offensive show the night before. After beating the Colorado Rockies by 24 runs on Saturday night, the Angels lost a one-run decision 4-3 on Sunday, dropping the weekend series two games to one. The Rockies were up 3-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning when they took advantage of an error to score an unearned run. Angels reliever Jose Soriano issued a two-out walk to Brenton Doyle and then bounced an attempted pickoff throw that got past first baseman Hunter Renfroe, allowing Doyle to advance to third.

6/04/23 LA Angels: The story of Jose Soriano has fairytale ending after his recent call-up. At one point in time, it felt like the Los Angeles Angels might've had a legitimate arm on their hands with pitcher Jose Soriano. Surely enough, Soriano was taken with the first pick of that draft by the Pirates.

12/27/21 What should Pirates do if a Rule 5 draft is held?. According to Baseball America, the Major League portion of the Rule 5 draft had taken place every year, without interruption, since 1920. Even previous work stoppages failed to torpedo the draft, so that might be a clue that a draft will eventually take place in 2022. Last year, the Pittsburgh Pirates were active in the Rule 5 draft, plucking pitcher Jose Soriano from the Los Angeles Angels’ organization and trading for fellow hurdler Luis Oviedo, whom the New York Mets had selected from the the...

11/15/21 Jose Soriano returned to Angels, Diego Castillo takes his place on 40-man. Jose Soriano, who came to the Pittsburgh Pirates in the Rule 5 draft in 2020, was sent back to the Los Angeles Angels yesterday, per Jack Harris of the L.A. Times. Soriano, who at one point was considered a top pitching prospect with a phenomenal fastball poised for a lot of Ks, underwent his second Tommy John surgery in as many seasons earlier this year, which doesn’t bode well for his future. The 23-year-old has only pitched three innings since 2019, and who knows what his future may hold now.
