7/13/25 Rays' Kevin Cash gives encouraging Ha-Seong Kim injury update. The Tampa Bay Rays went to Fenway Park for a four-game series with the hope of separating themselves from the resurgent Boston Red Sox. One of the Rays' recent contributors has been infielder Ha-Seong Kim, but he had to leave Sunday's 4-1 loss after he fouled the ball off of his left foot. Manager Kevin Cash and trainer Aaron Scott after the incident and attended to Kim, but the blow was serious enough to force the infielder out of the game. Since the Rays won't play again until Friday when they host the Baltimore Orioles, Kim will at least have time to recover.

7/07/25 Injury News is Good For Rays' Injured Infielders Lowe, Kim, Caballero. It was a weird Sunday health-wise for the Tampa Bay Rays. One infieder, Ha-Seong Kim, was already out, then Jose Caballero was a pregame scratch with an arm injury. Then in the top of the first inning, second baseman Brandon Lowe left the game with left-side tightness after a swing. Caballero was pressed back into duty, playing the entire game despite being less than 100 percent.

7/05/25 Rays' Ha-Seong Kim receives uncertain injury update. There was plenty of reason to be excited about the Ha-Seong Kim signing when it happened in February. The South Korean infielder stands out as a quintessential member of the Tampa Bay Rays, displaying the excellent defense and solid baserunning skills that helps characterize this franchise. The former Gold Glove winner sustained a right calf cramp in a 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Fourth of July, brutally cutting his Rays debut short and putting his health back into question. Tampa manager Kevin Cash is hopeful that Kim will avoid another trip to the injured list.

6/09/25 Ha-Seong Kim should make his Rays debut soon, so how will the team make room for him?. If all goes according to plan, Ha-Seong Kim's debut with the Tampa Bay Rays should happen at some point next week when the team returns to Steinbrenner Field to play the Baltimore Orioles. Kim signed with Tampa Bay in the offseason, which was one of the most expensive free-agent signings for the organization. Upon signing, the Rays knew the 29-year-old infielder would miss a chunk of the first half of the season after tearing the labrum in his right shoulder last August. Kim, who played his first four seasons with the San Diego Padres won a Gold Glove in 2023 and has 47 career home runs.

The Gold Glove infielder showed no signs of rust, needing just one swing to leave his mark on the contest. Kim, who underwent shoulder surgery last August when he was still a member of the San Diego Padres, served as the Durham Bulls' designated hitter in their showdown with the Memphis Redbirds on Monday. The Tampa Bay Rays' Triple-A affiliate went on to lose 6-1, despite having a handful of big leaguers and elite young talent in their lineup.

Kim has yet to play in a regular season game with Tampa Bay as he deals with a shoulder injury, though. Rays TV reporter Ryan Bass provided an update on the infielder before Tampa Bay's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday night. “ #Rays SS Ha-Seong Kim is in Los Angeles today, accompanied by head athletic trainer Joe Benge, to visit with Dr. Neal El Attrache, who performed his October shoulder surgery, as a check up. 2/14/25 Ha-Seong Kim likes the look of things after joining Rays for 1st day. Ha-Seong Kim will need some time to learn his way around the Rays spring training complex, put faces to names and get a sense of the specifics of his shoulder rehabilitation program. Rays officials, whose interactions with Kim through the free-agent recruitment and signing process had been via Zoom calls, were pleased to welcome their most prominent, and expensive, offseason acquisition face to face. “Excited to see him,” manager Kevin Cash said. The Rays cautiously have been projecting late May for Kim to resume playing shortstop.

2/13/25 ANTHONY VOLPE VS. HA-SEONG KIM. The New York Yankees may have missed a significant opportunity by not signing Ha-Seong Kim, and as Sports Illustrated recently highlighted, that decision could come back to haunt them. For those who have followed the Yankees closely, this isn't exactly surprising. Many fans and analysts, including me at BYB, have long believed that Kim would have been a perfect fit for the Yankees' infield this offseason. The Yankees' faith in Anthony Volpe played a big role in their decision not to pursue Kim in my opinion.
