They outrighted reliever Justin Garza off the 40-man roster. He has elected to become a free agent. The 29-year-old right-hander appeared in 17 games for Boston in 2023. He allowed 15 earned runs in 18 ? innings (7.36 ERA). He gave up 22 hits (three homers) and 12 walks while striking out 17. Boston initially claimed Garza off waivers April 28 from the Angels after having interest in him last offseason. He posted a 4.82 ERA in 24 outings (28 innings) for Triple-A Worcester .
