5/20/23 Target practice: How a job in retail ignited Orioles reliever Bryan Baker's fire. In two seasons with the Orioles, right-handed reliever Bryan Baker hasn't hesitated to show his emotions when pitching. During 2020's canceled minor league season, the Toronto Blue Jays invited Baker to their alternate training site, a hub for players who were not on the major league roster but could be called upon during the shortened campaign.

4/20/23 Eager to contribute, Orioles' Mike Baumann is embracing his move to the bullpen: 'It's been pretty electric'. Pitching out of the bullpen rather than the rotation is “like playing a different sport,” Orioles reliever Bryan Baker said. The 27-year-old right-hander entered spring training as one of a dozen pitchers vying to be Baltimore's five starting pitchers, but late in camp, the Orioles elected to permanently convert Baumann to a short-relief role.

4/10/23 Orioles reset: Series loss to Yankees shows gap still exists between Baltimore and top of AL East. Entering the season, the expectations, excitement and energy for the Orioles were higher than at any point to start a year since the rebuild began five years ago. The home-opening win over the New York Yankees on Friday — with 45,017 fans, most of whom were in Orioles orange, rocking the park — took those emotions to new heights, with Bryan Baker's strikeout in the eighth and the one-run victory having the potential to serve as a stepping stone in a post-rebuild world. “We're playing some close games,” Hyde said after the Orioles' 5-3 loss Sunday.

4/08/23 Saturday Bird Droppings: Opening Camden Yards with a win. Beating the Yankees is fun all times of the year, but doing it on Opening Day in front of a sellout crowd is even sweeter. Ramón Urías had a clutch RBI double, and then started a huge double play the following inning. Bryan Baker got out of trouble. Perhaps this is me putting weight where there really is none, but this felt like an important Opening Day for the franchise.

4/07/23 Orioles rally, hang on to beat Yankees, 7-6, in home opener at sold-out Camden Yards. Bryan Baker threw a 96 mph by Isiah Kiner-Falefa and unleashed a roar in chorus with the 45,017 raucous fans at a sold-out Camden Yards. The strikeout ended the eighth inning with the potential tying run at third base, and Baltimore closer Félix Bautista repeated the feat in the ninth as the Orioles held on to beat the New York Yankees, 7-6, in their first home game of the season. The Orioles had already lost a 4-0 lead and were on the verge of letting a 7-5 advantage slip away when Baker entered with two on, no outs and a run already in.

10/28/22 Bryan Baker kept getting better and better. When the Orioles picked Baker up off waivers last November, he seemed like the longest of long shots to stick on this roster. An eleventh-round pick for the Rockies in 2016, Baker spent five years in the Colorado/Toronto farm systems. His career minors numbers were “just aite” in most categories, except one: 10.3 strikeouts per game.

10/02/22 Orioles secure winning season, keep Yankees' Aaron Judge at 61 home runs in 3-1 victory. A pitch later, Bradish elicited another check-swing from Judge, with Merzel this time ruling he crossed the plane to end the inning and leave the bases loaded in Sunday’s second inning. It marked Bradish’s second strikeout of Judge, with Bryan Baker adding a third on the day and sixth of the series in the seventh as the Orioles beat the Yankees, 3-1, to earn a series victory while keeping Judge at 61 home runs, tied for the most in American League history.

5/31/22 Orioles follow up 10-0 win in Boston with 10-0 home loss to Mariners; position player Chris Owings pitches. Right-hander Bryan Baker opened the game on the mound for the Orioles, just as he did earlier this month in St. Louis, when he pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings. This time, however, he wasn’t as effective. His first pitch over the plate was a foul ball that was nearly a home run, and he finished his night allowing three earned in 1 1/3 innings.

4/16/22 Saturday Bird Droppings: What's better than beating the Yankees?. But for a little while last night the Orioles had fantastic pitching and a walk-off win over the Yankees. And for today, I will take that. Seriously, someone get me a Bryan Baker jersey.
