4/18/25 Why Red Sox Can Expect Triston Casas Breakout Very Soon. If the Red Sox are going to get where they want to go, they need Triston Casas to be a franchise stud first baseman. Casas is hitting a paltry .172 (11-for-64) through his first 18 games this season. Despite hitting in the middle of the Red Sox order, he has just three RBIs. On top of that, Casas has 18 strikeouts in 70 plate appearances with just three walks.

4/17/25 Red Sox Polarizing Slugger Is Just About To Breakout. The Boston Red Sox's offense could use a boost and it really looks like one of the team's most polarizing players is about to break out. Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas hasn't had the start to the 2025 Major League Baseball season that he has hoped to have. Casas currently is slashing .172/.243/.266 with one home run and three RBIs in 18 games. First off, let's take a look at his rookie campaign.

4/17/25 Is it time to panic? Breaking down Triston Casas' slow start for Red Sox. Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas came into the 2025 season with big expectations for himself. In an interview with Alex Speier of The Boston Globe, he expressed his belief that he could hit 40 homers and drive in 120 RBIs, saying that those numbers were the expectation for a Red Sox first baseman.

4/15/25 Red Sox lineup: Struggling OF returns, Triston Casas moved down another spot in order. Red Sox manager Alex Cora moved Triston Casas down one spot to seventh in the batting order.

4/14/25 Red Sox have underrated two-way star who has been one of MLB's best hitters so far. Many members of the Red Sox' young core came up — or will come up — with massive expectations attached to them. Triston Casas and Tanner Houck were first-round picks. Brayan Bello and Ceddanne Rafaela were both ranked near the top of of organizational prospect lists for years. Jarren Duran was a fast-riser whose big league debut was met with much fanfare.

4/12/25 Red Sox radio host's crazy Roman Anthony position change is a shot at current star. The Boston Red Sox seemingly have roster bloat across the diamond, but their depth at first base is notably thin. Triston Casas is the Red Sox's only MLB-ready first baseman by trade. A few publications floated a potential move to first base for new designated hitter and former third baseman Rafael Devers, but moving his questionable defense there would be a risk for Boston.

4/12/25 Red Sox legend Jim Rice calls out team after five-error atrocity: 'It's not difficult…'. What's red and white and keeps letting the baseball dribble between his legs? Hall of Famer Jim Rice ripped into the Boston Red Sox (7-8) Friday night after watching his former team commit five errors — leveling a league-leading total up to a whopping 19 — en route to an 11-1 drubbing at the hands of the 3-10 White Sox. “You've got to make the routine plays, those are the key things,” said Rice , who played 16 seasons with the Red Sox from 1974-89. “It's not difficult…” 6 Triston Casas (36) of the Boston Red Sox fumbles a ground ball at first base during the third inning of the game against the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field on April 11, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. 4/11/25 Bleacher Report's Vladimir Guerrero Jr. alternative for Red Sox is massive downgrade. The Boston Red Sox seem to have plenty of depth at almost all their positions, but first base is among the thinnest. The Red Sox have an everyday first baseman, Triston Casas, under team control until 2028. Romy González can play almost anywhere, but that isn't a long-term solution, and moving Rafael Devers' questionable defense to first base would be a risky choice.

4/09/25 Red Sox Might Soon DFA $90 Million Fan-Favorite, MLB Insider Speculates. The Boston Red Sox have known for a while that they have more talented hitters than their roster can handle. Two 25-year-old studs, first baseman Triston Casas and right fielder Wilyer Abreu, were both on the bench against a left-handed pitcher, because Rob Refsnyder and Romy González, who both mash lefties, needed to get some at-bats. The roster crunch has already been tricky to navigate, due to the arrival of top prospect Kristian Campbell and Rafael Devers' full-time move to designated hitter.

4/08/25 MLB Writer Floats Wild Idea Featuring Red Sox's Triston Casas. It likely was a long offseason for Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas. Casas is a building block who won't be a free agent until 2029. The only time it made any sense was when there were Vladimir Guerrero Jr. rumors. While this is the case, FanSided's Kevin Stephan made a hypothetical list of two players who could be gone before May and mentioned Casas.

4/07/25 Red Sox reactions: On raw night, Red Sox bats left cold in loss to Toronto. Instant reactions from the Red Sox' 6-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, which snapped Boston's five-game winning streak. 1) You'll recall that the Red Sox stumbled out of the gate when they couldn't buy a hit with runners in scoring position. There were 0-for-9 with RISP until Triston Casas slammed a run-scoring single off the wall in the eighth and twice failed to take advantage of opportunities after putting the leadoff man on base. The worst squander came in the seventh when a leadoff walk to Casas and a single by Trevor Story gave the Sox two on and no out.

4/03/25 Why Red Sox' Alex Cora spoke Spanish to Triston Casas; 'It means something'. Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas has struggled early in the season, going just 2-for-21 (.095 batting average) with no runs, no RBIs, no extra-base hits, one walk and nine strikeouts. “I talked to him yesterday,” Cora said before Boston's series finale against the Orioles here at Camden Yards on Thursday. Cora said it in Spanish though. “He knows when I talk to him in Spanish, it means something," Cora said.

3/29/25 Rangers' Josh Smith leaves game against Red Sox after collision in foul territory. The Texas Rangers are onto their third-string third baseman less than three games into the season. Interim third baseman Josh Smith exited Saturday's game vs. the Boston Red Sox at Globe Life Field in the first inning after he collided with a wall in foul territory trying to catch a Triston Casas pop fly. Smith fell to the ground and grabbed at his left leg before head trainer Matt Lucero checked on him. Smith stayed in the field for the remainder of the inning before he was replaced by Ezequiel Duran in the bottom half.

3/26/25 Red Sox Insider Shares Much-Needed Update On Boston Trio. The Boston Red Sox have been bitten by the injury bug throughout Spring Training but with Opening Day set to be here on Thursday, it sounds like everything is trending in the right direction. First baseman Triston Casas had a slight scare in Mexico after barehanding a ball to protect himself. Romy Gonzalez has been dealing with an oblique injury. There were at least slight questions about all three with Opening Day coming on Thursday.

3/26/25 Red Sox Predicted To Reverse Course On Triston Casas Trade By End Of 2025. Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas made it through one winter of trade rumors. All offseason, Casas was being floated left and right in trade rumors, presumably to land a top starting pitcher. The logic was that by trading Casas, the Red Sox could sign a powerful right-handed bat to play third base and shift Rafael Devers to first.

3/23/25 Ex-Yankees $40 Million Slugger Is Perfect Red Sox Target. While this is the case, there is a guy who is already available who at least should be of some interest to the Boston Red Sox. It's been talked about how the Red Sox have little first base depth behind Triston Casas. In response, there has been reports recently that the Red Sox could have an interest in reuniting with first baseman Dom Smith. Another guy who is available and could make sense for this team is three-time All-Star Anthony Rizzo.

3/21/25 MLB Rumors: Ex-Red Sox Infielder Opts-Out With Yankees, Linked To Boston. The Boston Red Sox don't have much first base depth behind the incumbent Triston Casas. FanSided's Robert Murray reported Friday that Dominic Smith opted out of his minor-league deal with the New York Yankees. Following the Yankees news, MassLive's Chris Cotillo and Christopher Smith reported that a reunion between the Red Sox and Smith could be in the works to bring more depth to the Boston infield.

3/18/25 Red Sox Provide Triston Casas Role Reassurance Before Opening Day. The Boston Red Sox have complete faith in first baseman Triston Casas entering 2025. Casas, a left-handed hitter, won't lose any at-bats this upcoming season, regardless of who's on the mound pitching against Boston. The Red Sox, as opposed to substituting Casas with a right-handed hitter against left-handed pitching, intend to entrust the 25-year-old as their full-time first baseman, no matter what.
