Cody Bradford threw to hitters for the second time in a week and Josh Sborz faced hitters for the first time since undergoing shoulder surgery last fall. Sborz threw a one-inning simulated game outing against Alejandro Osuna and Ezequiel Duran, with his fastball sitting at 90-91 mph. It was up about three ticks from his best bullpen session to date. Bradford faced hitters Wednesday for the first time since his elbow first became inflamed during spring training. “I left feeling pretty good,” Bradford said Thursday morning before the Texas Rangers' series finale against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. Texas Rangers left-handed pitcher Cody Bradford could be bound for a minor league rehab assignment soon. “Sooner than you think,” Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday. Bradford, sidelined since the spring with elbow inflammation, threw a 22-pitch live bullpen before Wednesday's game vs. the Minnesota Twins at Target Field and “looked really good” Bochy. Left-hander Cody Bradford is expected to take the next significant step in his recovery from an elbow sprain on Wednesday when he will face hitters in a live game simulation. Bradford has missed the entire season with the injury, which was diagnosed late during spring training. At the time, the Rangers were hopeful rest and rehab would allow him to avoid undergoing ligament surgery, which would have cost him the entire season. Having cleared the biggest test to date of his elbow rehab over the weekend, Cody Bradford is ready to up the intensity and frequency when it comes to throwing breaking balls. Bradford, who threw about six or seven breaking balls in an “up-and-down” bullpen session meant to simulate two innings of work on Saturday, will throw again on Wednesday in Tampa. “I left the last one very excited with how my elbow felt and the lack of pain or discomfort,” Bradford said Tuesday.
