10/10/23 Ranking the Rockies: No. 51, Karl Kauffmann. Welcome to the 2023 edition of Ranking the Rockies, where we take a look back at every player to log playing time for the Rockies in 2023. Right-handed Michigan product Karl Kauffmann started his 2023 season ranked no. 23 in our Purple Row prospect rankings and was the no. 28 organizational prospect per MLB Pipeline. By the time mid-season PuRPs rankings were released, Kauffmann had fallen off both lists. 5/29/23 Colorado Rockies game no. 55 thread: Karl Kauffmann vs Ryne Nelson. The Colorado Rockies last road series was a disaster, getting toasted by the Texas Rangers in a three-game set in Arlington. But a return home was just what the team needed, taking back-to-back series against the Miami Marlins and New York Mets in a full week that saw the team post a 5-2 record. Now, they are tasked with hitting the road again, squaring-off against the Arizona Diamondbacks who sit second the NL West with a 30-23 record. They will send Karl Kauffmann to the mound this afternoon for his third MLB start. Kauffmann has yet to make it through the fifth inning so far, going 4 1 / 3 with five runs allowed in each of his first two starts. It will be Kauffmann's first career start against

5/25/23 Thursday Rockpile: Dinelson Lamet is worth adding to the rotation. The Colorado Rockies have had a difficult time filling a starting rotation thanks to injuries galore and underperformance. Starting depth has been a question mark for years and as the Rockies cycle in rookies like Karl Kauffmann or veterans like Chase Anderson, they find themselves trying to think outside the box and devise a way to fit a square block in a circle hole. Manager Bud Black told MLB.com's Thomas Harding the Rockies are “contemplating the possibility” of moving Lamet back into a starting role.

5/24/23 After rocky debut, Colorado's Karl Kauffmann faces Marlins. The Colorado Rockies never use the word "tank" when going through lean years. Things didn't go great in his first outing, but he will get the ball again when the Rockies host the Miami Marlins in the third game of a four-game series on Wednesday night in Denver. Miami will counter with reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara (1-5, 5.05 ERA).

5/19/23 Rockies lose to Rangers in Karl Kauffmann's major-league debut. It was only a matter of time before the Rockies' fragile, patchwork rotation gave way.
