5/02/24 Shota Imanaga's reaction to pitching in NY for first time with Cubs will leave Marvel fans in tears. Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Shota Imanaga has had a great start in his first season in MLB, and after throwing seven shutout innings against the New York Mets at Citi Field on Wednesday in a 1-0 win, he had a hilarious response when asked what it was like pitching in New York for the first time, comparing it to what he has seen in the Spider-man movies. “Well, I recognized the hotel view from Spider-man,” Shota Imanaga said, according to Taylor McGregor. Imanaga's big league career could not have gotten off to a better start, as he has hit the ground running and is fitting in great personality-wise with the Cubs.

Shota Imanaga continued the historic start to his big league career, throwing seven innings to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 1-0 win over the New York Mets. Imanaga who improved to 5-0, allowed three hits and walked one with seven strikeouts to lower his ERA to 0.78. Entering Wednesday, the 30-year-old was the first pitcher since 1901 to go 4-0 with a sub-1.00 ERA and at least 28 strikeouts in his first five starts. Pete Crow-Armstrong hot a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to score Matt Mervis. New York starter Jose Butto fell to 0-2 with the loss.
