Speaking with reporters before Monday's game, Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said he wouldn't close the door on potentially adding to club's relief corps before Tuesday's MLB trading deadline. A few hours later, the Cardinals bullpen gave up critical runs in the last third of the game against the Texas Rangers. A pair of Cardinals misplays in the field contributed to those runs, and a one-run deficit quickly turned into an uphill battle. Ultimately, a three-run seventh inning provided breathing room for the Rangers and put the Cardinals on their way to their fourth loss in their past five games, 6-3 in front of an announced crowd of 34,281 in the opener of a three-game series at Busch Stadium.
