12/13/24 | Former Tigers lefty will pitch in Japan in 2025. Former Detroit Tigers left-handed pitcher Bryan Sammons has signed with a club in Japan. Sammons, who was waived by the Tigers last month, agreed to a one-year deal with the Chiba Lotte Marines. The 29-year-old had a memorable August after his unexpected promotion to the big leagues. 11/04/24 | Tigers drop 3 players to start postseason roster shuffle. DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers dropped three players from the 40-man roster in their first round of offseason housekeeping. First baseman/outfielder Bligh Madris; outfielder Ryan Vilade; and left-handed pitcher Bryan Sammons were waived and then outrighted to Triple-A Toledo after going unclaimed. The moves were necessary to create space for players who ended the season on the 60-day injured list. They were required to be reinstated on Monday night. Shortstop Javier Baez; and right-handed pitchers Alex Faedo and Sawyer Gipson-Long are back on the 40-man roster, which is now full.
