The Red Sox received relatively good on lefty reliever Zach Penrod but still expect him to miss a good chunk of time with an elbow injury. Penrod's MRI revealed no structural damage and he's not a candidate for Tommy John surgery or another procedure, manager Alex Cora said Saturday. Red Sox lefty Zach Penrod underwent an MRI on his elbow Wednesday after experiencing soreness in the area, manager Alex Cora said Thursday. Penrod, who is on the 40-man roster after making his big league debut late in 2024, is awaiting results. With the 27-year-old potentially facing an absence, the Sox struck to add veteran depth to their group of left-handed relievers, agreeing to a minor league contract with former All-Star Matt Moore.
