5/31/25 | Amid 'tough' roster move, Rays face Astros again. In a nod to their outfield depth -- amid their series against the Houston Astros -- the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday optioned rookie speedster Chandler Simpson to Triple-A Durham to make room for the returning Jake Mangum. Over the 35 games since his big league debut on April 19, Simpson validated his reputation as a runner by stealing 19 bases in 22 attempts. After the Astros responded with a 2-1 win on Friday, the teams will play the third contest of their four-game series on Saturday afternoon in Houston. Simpson, 24, posted a modest batting line of .285/.315/.317, but his speed benefited the Rays and made the decision to option him difficult. 5/20/25 | SAGNOF: Chandler Simpson Makes Opposing Teams Say D’OH!. There’s many great Simpsons in history. Jessica Simpson, Ashley Simpson, O.J. Simpson. Okay, maybe I better restart the opening. There is a great T.V. show which most of you have, I am sure, heard of called The Simpsons. I grew up watching it and now get to enjoy it again from the beginning with my 9 year old son who has also taken a liking to it. Please, blog, may I have some more? 5/18/25 | Rays aim for speedy recovery from woes in series with Astros. After a sluggish start through 46 games, the Tampa Bay Rays will act fast to change their direction when they host the Houston Astros on Monday night to open a nine-game homestand. Fast might be the key word here, especially after losing two of three to the National League East's last-place Miami Marlins over the weekend. The American League East's fourth-place club at four games under .500, the Rays and their frequently hibernating offense have received a spark from speedy center fielder Chandler Simpson. Simpson, 24, has injected life into the Rays' lineup, which is tied for 11th in the AL in runs scored with 179 (3.89 per game) and tied for seventh in batting average (.242).
