5/13/24 Daniel Hudson Only Considered Re-Signing With Dodgers. Daniel Hudson was limited to only three appearances with the Los Angeles Dodgers last year before he sustained a season-ending MCL sprain in his right knee. The 37-year-old pondered retirement during the offseason but decided to return to the Dodgers for his 15th MLB season. Hudson didn't fare too well in Spring Training but still earned a spot on the Dodgers' Opening Day roster due to Brusdar Graterol's shoulder injury.

3/16/24 Dodgers Roster: Miguel Vargas Optioned Before South Korea Exhibition Games. The Los Angeles Dodgers added Daniel Hudson to their 40-man roster and optioned Miguel Vargas to Minor League camp before their first exhibition game in South Korea. Like the veteran relief pitcher, Vargas previously had been included on the Dodgers' travel roster.

3/13/24 Daniel Hudson Feels Like He 'Owes' Dodgers To Stay Healthy And Contribute. The Los Angeles Dodgers declined Daniel Hudson's $6.5 million club option for the 2024 season, but ended up re-signing him to a Minor League contract with a non-roster invite to Spring Training. The veteran relief pitcher made just three appearances with the Dodgers last year before suffering a season-ending MCL sprain in his right knee. Hudson pondered retirement during the offseason but decided to return for what will be his age-37 campaign. “I felt like this organization has really taken good care of me and my family the last couple of years and they didn't have to,” Hudson said.

3/12/24 Dodgers News: Daniel Hudson Unlikely To Opt Out Of Minor League Contract. The Los Angeles Dodgers spent a solid portion of the offseason adding talent to their bullpen by investing in veteran arms, including Daniel Hudson returning. Joe Kelly and Ryan Brasier were brought back on big league contracts, and the Dodgers exercised a $1 million team option on Blake Treinen. Meanwhile, Hudson and the likes of Nabil Crismatt, T.J. McFarland, Jesse Hahn and Justin Wilson were signed to Minor League contracts.

3/07/24 Dave Roberts: Daniel Hudson Will Be Part Of Dodgers Bullpen On Opening Day. Daniel Hudson made just three appearances with the Los Angeles Dodgers last year before sustaining a season-ending MCL sprain in his right knee. The soon-to-be-37-year-old pondered retirement during the offseason but decided to re-sign with the Dodgers on a Minor League contract for what will be his 15th MLB campaign. Hudson has somewhat struggled this spring as he entered Thursday with a 4.91 ERA and 1.91 WHIP in four Cactus League appearances.

3/07/24 Dodgers' Dave Roberts reveals intriguing bullpen plan that will trigger crucial move. The Los Angeles Dodgers are going to be one of the best teams in the MLB in 2024, barring an unforeseen turn of events. Speaking to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, Roberts revealed that veteran reliever Daniel Hudson will be part of the Dodgers bullpen in 2024. Hudson is currently on a minor-league deal, and he can opt out by March 15, but Hudson's familiarity with the team and Roberts' reassurance that he'll be a part of the ballclub on Opening Day means that the 36-year old reliever will be here to stay with the NL West powerhouse.

3/06/24 Dodgers News: Daniel Hudson Still Has 'Some Left In The Tank'. Daniel Hudson's time on the Los Angeles Dodgers' active roster was short-lived last season after he was expected to be a key contributor in the bullpen. Unfortunately for Hudson, his season ended before it could get going. Hudson made three appearances for the Dodgers in 2023, posting a pristine ERA through three innings with one save before an MCL sprain in his right knee ended his season. Instead, he chose to re-sign for his third year with the Dodgers, joining on a Minor League deal worth $2 million if he breaks camp with the team and up to another $2 million in performance bonuses back in December of last year.

2/20/24 Dodgers News: Daniel Hudson Didn't Want To End Career Because Of Injury. Hudson can earn $2 million if he makes the Major League roster, with an additional $2 million in performance bonuses. “I didn't want it to get taken away from me like it was,” Hudson said. Over three seasons with the Dodgers, Hudson is 5-5 with six saves, a 3.31 ERA, 3.54 FIP and a 1.13 WHIP across 73.1 innings pitched in 68 appearances.

2/16/24 Dodgers Injured Reliever Believes He Can Help the Team Win a World Series This Season. Dodgers Injured Reliever Believes He Can Help the Team Win a World Series This Season Does Hudson have a spot on this roster? Author: Jason Fray Publish date: Feb 16, 2024 9:30 PM EST In this story: Los Angeles Dodgers Expectations around Los Angeles are understandably high heading into this season for the Dodgers. From the projected lineup to the assortment of pitchers, this team is loaded from top to bottom. While most spots on the roster are essentially etched at this point, there are a few still up for grabs -- particularly in the bullpen. One of those guys fighting for a spot is veteran right-hander Daniel Hudson. The 36-year-old has enjoyed varying success at the Major League level. He

1/26/24 Dodgers invite veteran Daniel Hudson, top prospect Dalton Rushing to camp. Hudson and Rushing are two of 20 non-roster players invited to camp, 11 of whom have previous major league experience. Dodgers pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report for spring training on Feb. 8.

1/26/24 Why the Dodgers should trade for Emmanuel Clase. If there is one area within the Dodgers' roster that could use an additional star piece, it would be the bullpen. The Dodgers have been relatively inactive in the reliever market, as the only actions made have been to bring back pieces of the 2023 team, which were a minor league deal for Daniel Hudson and a one year deal for Joe Kelly. The Dodgers were recently in the mix for All Star closer Josh Hader before he signed with the Houston Astros. The bullpen still features a two-headed monster of Evan Phillips and Brusdar Graterol, but the team still lacks a full-time closer, even with Phillips saving a team-leading 24 games.

1/19/24 Dodgers minor league deals: Nabil Crismatt, Elieser Hernández, Stephen Gonsalves, Jesse Hahn. Considering that 10 of the 16 non-roster pitchers from last year's spring camp ended up pitching in the majors — combining for a 5.42 ERA in 196 innings over 61 appearances, or an 8.29 ERA in the 71? non-Bobby-Miller innings, if you prefer — it's a decent bet that at least some of these arms will find their way to Dodger Stadium in 2024. Daniel Hudson signed a minor league deal in December that will pay him $2 million in the majors if he makes the team plus a reported $2 million in potential bonuses. Hudson last season worked his way back from a torn ACL in his left knee, and after making his way back to a major league mound for the first time in a year, he sprained the MCL in his right knee that effectively ended his season. While on the mound for the Dodgers in the last two seasons, Hudson had a 1.98 ERA and six saves in 28 games, with 35 strikeouts (a 31.5-percent strikeout rate) and eight walks in 27? innings.

1/04/24 2023 Los Angeles Dodgers Player Reviews: Daniel Hudson. After having his 2022 season end early due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), Daniel Hudson was determined to play a key role in the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen last year. Unfortunately, the veteran relief pitcher dealt with lingering discomfort in his left knee and also began to experience right ankle tendinitis during Spring Training. Hudson was back on the mound for the Dodgers roughly one month after revealing he needed a cortisone injection to get over a final hurdle in his recovery from the torn ACL. “It was more inflammation and tendinitis in the patella area where they took the graft from,” Hudson explained.

12/13/23 Dodgers Rumors: Daniel Hudson Re-Signed For 2024 Season. At the beginning of the offseason the Los Angeles Dodgers faced contract decisions on Daniel Hudson, Joe Kelly, Lance Lynn, Max Muncy, Alex Reyes and Blake Treinen. The Dodgers got ahead of that with Muncy by signing him to a two-year contract extension that runs through 2025.

11/10/23 2023 Dodgers in review: Daniel Hudson. Daniel Hudson is used to adversity, having gone through two Tommy John surgeries, and then carving out 10 more seasons as an effective relief pitcher. Hudson hadn't pitched since June 2022, and missed just over a year with a torn ACL in his left knee. Game stories that night included references to Hudson tearing up after the game, which was understandable given he just missed a year and was finally back pitching at a high level. “Kind of like how I remembered it,” Hudson said, eyes reddening as he choked up.

11/06/23 Los Angeles Dodgers Contract Option Decisions For 2024 Season. The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the offseason with 2024 contract option decisions to make on Daniel Hudson, Joe Kelly, Lance Lynn, Max Muncy, Alex Reyes and Blake Treinen. Of the group, the Dodgers chose to retain only two for the 2024 season: Muncy, signed a two-year contract extension through 2025, and Treinen's 2024 club option was picked up.

10/15/23 Dodgers Rumors: Daniel Hudson's Contract Option Will Likely Be Declined. Daniel Hudson returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen this year after missing the second half of the 2022 season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Hudson sustained the knee injury while converting a save against the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 5. Hudson threw in multiple simulated games during his recovery in hopes of potentially returning down the stretch, but such would have only been possible if the Dodgers advanced to the National League Championship Series.

9/27/23 Daniel Hudson Update: Dodgers Need To Reach NLCS For Potential Return. The Los Angeles Dodgers had visions of being able to rely on Daniel Hudson and Blake Treinen down the stretch of the 2023 season and into October, but that likelihood has all but officially been ruled out. Treinen's rehab assignment was brought to an end due to lingering trouble with his right shoulder, and Hudson is still on the mend from a medial collateral ligament (MCL) sprain in his right knee. After missing the second half of the 2022 season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), Hudson pitched in just three games before the MCL sprain.

9/17/23 Dodgers Injury Update: Daniel Hudson 'Running Out Of Days'. The Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen has transformed itself in the second half of the season, becoming one of the better units around Major League Baseball. Hudson sustained the injury after recording his first save since June 2022, a deflating blow to a veteran who had just returned from a torn ACL in his left knee that caused him to miss the rest of the 2022 season. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said early on that Hudson wasn't likely to return this year, but the team remained hopeful.
