| 9/12/23 | Former Detroit Tigers relief pitcher picked up by New York Yankees. After a four-year hiatus, former Detroit Tigers reliever Zach McAllister is back in Major League Baseball. The New York Yankees announced Tuesday that they selected McAllister's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and placed fellow right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga on the 15-day injured list. To make room for McAllister on the 40-man roster, the Yankees transferred first baseman Anthony Rizzo to the 60-day injured list. McAllister's last big-league stint came in Detroit, when he signed with the Tigers in August 2018 after being designated for assignment by Cleveland, where he had spent his first seven seasons in the majors and compiled a 29-35 record, highlighted by a 2017 campaign that saw him go 3-2 with a 2.61 earned run average and 66 strikeouts against 21 walks in 62 innings.
