4/15/24 | OnFriar Podcast: who's irrelevant now? San Diego Padres send a message in series win over Dodgers. Will Smith is a very good catcher. Smith called Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar "irrelevant" on Saturday then watched Profar launch a 3-run double on Sunday to win a game and a series at Dodger Stadium (in a bit of irony, the Los Angeles catcher isn't even the most relevant Will Smith in the city where he plays). There's a lot to unpack from the Padres taking two of three from their long-time tormentors. Source: https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/onfriar-pod... |
4/15/24 | Padres' Manny Machado fires back at Will Smith's Jurickson Profar 'irrelevant' claim. The San Diego Padres rivalry with the Los Angeles Dodgers can officially add a new chapter to the book. The Padres took two of three in Los Angeles in a drama-filled weekend. On Saturday, the two sides got into it with Dodgers catcher Will Smith firing back at Jurickson Profar and calling him “irrelevant.” After the victory, Padres star Manny Machado was asked about the situation with Profar and Smith, and Machado fired back at the Dodgers catcher (h/t Aiden Gonzalez of ESPN). 4/15/24 | Profar's tiebreaking 3-run double in 7th inning lifts Padres to 6-3 victory over Dodgers. Jurickson Profar broke a seventh-inning tie with a three-run double, Jackson Merrill had three hits and the San Diego Padres defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-3 to take two of three in their weekend series. Profar’s bases-loaded drive off the center-field fence against J.P. Feyereisen gave the Padres two straight series wins at Dodger Stadium for the first time since 2013. The Padres took advantage of 14 walks issued by five Dodgers pitchers, the most San Diego has drawn in a nine-inning game. It was the most walks by Dodgers pitchers since they issued 16 against the Mets in a 1962 game. James Paxton walked eight in five-plus innings.
