5/13/24 Former Dodgers Manager Could Take Over Blue Jays This Year: Report. Los Angeles Dodger manager Don Mattingly could potentially return to the helm of a major league bench this season. Mattingly, currently serving as the Toronto Blue Jays' bench coach, might step up to manage the team, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale. 5/12/24 MLB rumors: John Schneider's expected Blue Jays replacement emerges if he's fired. The Toronto Blue Jays have been one of the more disappointing teams in MLB so far this season holding an 18-22 record after losing two out of three to the Minnesota Twins at home this weekend, and this potentially puts manager John Schneider on the hot seat, which makes the attention turn to bench coach Don Mattingly, who has plenty of managerial experience. “If the Blue Jays continue to struggle, and Schneider is the scapegoat, his replacement is expected to be Don Mattingly,” Bob Nightengale of USA Today said.

5/08/24 Struggling Blue Jays hold closed-door meeting. Things are not going well for the Toronto Blue Jays. Going up against the MLB-best Philadelphia Phillies yesterday, the Blue Jays didn't appear to be even close in terms of competition, falling by a 10-1 final. The Blue Jays have lost 10 of their last 13 games, and are sitting at just 16-20 on the season. Many have been calling for a big change in the batting order, though manager John Schneider doesn't seem keen on doing so; however, that doesn't mean he and the team aren't trying to figure things out.
