12/19/23 Blue Jays Birthdays: Aaron Loup, Vinnie Chulk. Aaron is a lefty sidearm pitcher the Jays drafted in the 9th round of the 2009 MLB draft. Aaron's first three seasons with the Jays were pretty terrific. Loup had a bounce-back year in 2017, with a 3.75 ERA in 70 games. John Gibbons finally figured out that Loup was a LOOGY and should used him that way.

11/03/23 Angels decline options on Aaron Loup, Eduardo Escobar. The Angels continued cleaning up their roster for the winter by declining the options for left-hander Aaron Loup and infielder Eduardo Escobar, a couple of expected moves. The Angels will pay Loup a $2 million buyout instead of his $7.5 million option. Escobar receives a $500,000 buyout instead of a $9 million option. Loup, 35, posted a 6.10 ERA in 55 games in 2023, finishing his two-year Angels career with a 4.86 ERA. He signed a two-year, $17 million deal prior to the 2022 season. Escobar, 34, hit .219 with a .563 OPS in 59 games with the Angels. The Angels also transferred their nine players on the 60-day injured list back to the 40-man roster, which is now at 38. 9/19/23 Angels lose 6th straight after Aaron Loup's rough 8th inning. The Angels who will be back next year had better days than one who likely won't in their 6-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night. Veteran left-hander Aaron Loup entered in a tie game in the bottom of the eighth and gave up four runs. Loup, a 35-year-old whose $7.5 million contract option for 2023 almost certainly won't be exercised, now has a 6.10 ERA. Wins and losses matter little at this point, as the Angels play out the string.

5/18/23 Angels lefty Aaron Loup plans to return to what made him successful. As Aaron Loup moves toward a return from the injured list, the Angels left-hander has an idea of how to turn around his season. “I definitely think I need to throw more fastballs, to get back to doing what I've done my whole career,” Loup said this week. Loup, who is expecting to be activated within a week, has been on the injured list with a relatively minor hamstring injury that has provided him an opportunity to step back and re-evaluate what has gone wrong so far this season. Loup said he realizes that poor execution of pitches has been a problem, but he also continues to believe that what he describes as a “consensus effort for us a group” to throw more off-speed pitches didn't work for him.

5/05/23 LA Angels News: Yesterday's debacle has to be the final straw for Aaron Loup. The Los Angeles Angels just completed their first sweep of the season and are playing great baseball right now. The Angels have a chance to show the world that they're legit by putting on a good performance against quality competition on their home turf. In order for the Angels to have a successful homestand and rest of the season, they have to field the best roster that they possibly can. No matter how you slice it, that roster does not, and cannot include Aaron Loup any longer.

Sunday, Jose Quijada relieved Tepera with a runner on base in the ninth inning of a 5-1 victory and retired the next three batters in order. Had there two runners on base rather than one, Quijada would have been in line for his fourth save of the season.

9/12/22 Mike Trout extends home run streak to 7 games, one shy of MLB record, in Angels' loss. Trout’s two-run homer in the Angels’ 5-4 loss to the Cleveland Guardians pulled him within one game of the major league record of eight straight games with a homer. Trout’s fifth-inning homer tied the score, but the Angels lost after Aaron Loup gave up a run on Amed Rosario’s double down the left-field line in the seventh. The Angels are now 3-4 in the seven games in which Trout has homered, which is a fitting bit of disappointment for an organization that has been defined by team failure amid i...
