5/01/24 Chicago Cubs fans must see the insane ending to victory over the New York Mets. Given the bullpen struggles, specifically closing out games, Cubs fans have grown used to holding their breaths whenever the North Siders are in a save situation. Veteran Hector Neris has been the reliever that Cubs' manager Craig Counsell in place of Adbert Alzolay as the team's closer and Neris was on the mound on Wednesday as he tried to earn his fifth save in as many opportunities. Insider Says Chicago Cubs New Closer Isn't Long For Role Despite Success The Chicago Cubs already switched up their closer one time this season, and it seems like another change could be coming soon despite the success of their current pitcher in that role. 4/15/24 Cubs' big Hector Neris problem could go from bad to worse if this happens. Hector Neris has been a disaster for the Chicago Cubs in the early going. Now, we're not even 10% of the way through the 2024 season (not that you'd know it by scrolling Twitter) and there's time for the veteran to re-discover what made him such a reliable bullpen arm in recent years. With six walks in five appearances, it's been all bad for Neris. Right now, though, as our friends at Bleacher Nation pointed out, there's not a whole lot the Cubs can do besides hope he can work through it.

3/25/24 This Chicago Cubs offseason grade highlights a major concern. The Chicago Cubs concluded their Cactus League scheduled on Sunday with the focus now shifting to the start of the regular season on Thursday. The Cubs are entering the 2024 season with the expectation of winning the National League Central but their offseason has allowed for doubt to remain with that prediction. It's not that the Cubs had a bad off-season, however, it was one that left many fans with a desire for more. The Cubs were opportunistic with their additions as Hector Neris and Shota Imanaga both represent much-needed improvements to their pitching staff while on team-friendly deals.

New Chicago Cubs Reliever Makes "Fabulous" Gesture to Minor Leaguers Hector Neris, the Chicago Cubs new reliever, is already endearing himself to the organization. Author: Kade Kistner Publish date: Mar 17, 2024 2:00 PM EDT In this story: Chicago Cubs The Chicago Cubs made some significant moves this offseason but one that could really payoff is the one they made to bolster their bullpen. During the 2023 MLB season, the Cubs bullpen was the unit that was the shakiest to start the season and ended up costing Chicago multiple games. In order to address those concerns the front office went out and signed veteran reliever Hector Neris to a one-year, $9 million deal. A fair offer for a 35-year-old
